About the adventure

Hi! This game will be a run through of the Mega-Dungeon Module, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. While we are not playing the proceeding introduction to the town, we are jumping right into the endless floors of Undermountain in search of Glory, treasure, and to prove to a stubborn tavern owner that you are a true adventurer.

About me

Hello! I am Jon, I have been playing D&D since D&D3.5 back in 2006, for just about every weekend since then. I have experience with 3.5e, 4e, 5e D&D and as a forever DM for our group, running games of varying player sizes and tones. I run both homebrew adventures and modules as well. I run my games RAW(Rules as Written) until something comes up where we, as a group, make a ruling through clear discussion. I also have a smaller amount of experience with Draw Steel and Wrath and Glory

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during Session 0. This way we can all handle it together and ask questions. We will be using rolled stats, starting wealth for level 5 characters, and only official sources for race, class, etc. Any questions you have we can answer during session 0. :)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I use FoundryVTT for my games so no software needed on the players part, only the ability to use the internet. If you like a program specifically for your character sheets, that's fine, it can be a google doc, a pdf, dndbeyond etc. I will be importing them into the VTT so your tokens are ready to use during the 1st real session. A discord link will be sent to players so we can use the voice chat on that while we play.

What Jon brings to the table

I believe in community storytelling, I believe in us all having the best time we can in the confines of the rules. If you have something you want to do, we can talk about it, and see what roll would that fall under. I am working on music for the maps and backgrounds and I do try(Try doing alot of the work in this sentence) to distinguish characters with different voices. Above all, I am a human being who is capable of calm communication and has the interest of the party in mind. I am not here to try to beat the players, I am here to host the server for the players to have a fun time through this adventure.

Safety

How Jon creates a safe table

There will be a session 0, in which we as a group will be going over basic etiquette, what will and won't be in my games, as well as talking about character creation and what the players want out of the game they are signing up for. While we are following a module, I am adaptable, and I have the most fun when I am able to see my players shining, whether it's a moment for the tank to prove his build, a necromancer finding what they need for their skeleton horde, or someone's backstory coming up in relevant ways. Players who break the rules we establish together will be talked to privately, and depending on the situation, told to leave. I will not tolerate racism, sexism, or bigotry in my games, period. Those who bring that to my table will find themselves immediately removed.
