About the adventure

Experience the newly released Blade '68 supplement. This Blades in the Dark supplement is set in a world inspired by the swinging sixties. Spy fiction, crime capers and weird sci-fi are a few of the aesthetics and genres you can expect in the world we will build together. Our game will be set in Doskvol one of the most important cities of the powerful Imperium in 968 AC (After-Cataclysm). The cataclysm shattered the sun and created a world of eternal night filled with malicious entities. In the present day, a novel technology known as Bluetime generates a protective bubble of daylight around the city, keeping most of the monstrosities outside of its walls. After multiple wars, it is the age of consensus : an era of relative stability relying heavily on conformity and state control. Blades in the dark is a collaborative storytelling game in which we play to find out. This means the players and DM shape a setting in which everyone is excited to play, making each game truly unique. This game is open to all. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, there is a place for you at this table as long as you are exited about participating in the story.

About me

I am a curious and adventurous DM who loves to discover new systems and invite my friends over to try them with me. I have been an RPG enthusiast for two decades now and a DM for almost as long. As a former game store owner, I have been a professional DM and game event organizer for a few years. As such I specialized in introducing RPGs to new players. I strongly believe that RPGs are for everyone and am passionate about sharing this fantastic hobby with great people.

Character creation

Creating your character

Since Blade '68 is a collaborative storytelling game, character creation is done at the table in the first session. The players will not only create their own characters; they will also decide what type of crew they form. Since this campaign is an introduction to the system, we will be using the pre-made character sheets along with the sample crew to dive into the action faster.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players who want to familiarize themselves with the game can read the rule summary for blades in the dark (full player's kit). It is available on the publisher's web site at : https://bladesinthedark.com/downloads However, this is not strictly necessary, since the rules will be explained during the first session. Also, keep in mind than the full player kit was developed for the blades in the dark base game and some modifications will be necessary to play blade '68. Blade '68 is a collaborative storytelling game. This means the players are heavily involved in worldbuilding. I recommend inspiring yourself from your favourite sixties inspired media, but to keep an open and collaborative mindset.

Safety

How Karima creates a safe table

We will be using the blades '68's palette to set the game's boundaries. For those that are not familiar with the palette, it is similar to the lines and veils system, but it also highlights the themes players are excited about. Additionally, electronic X cards will be available so anyone can stop the game if they feel uncomfortable about a specific scene. At the end of the game, there will be a short debrief session where everyone can share their stars and wishes.
