About the adventure

This adventure takes place during both eras of the Mistborn novels, starting in the first and then changing characters half way through to continue the adventure 300 years later. Your actions in the first half will effect how the adventure unfolds in the second. Players familiar with the novels will love the expanded canon, but those unfamiliar can still enjoy it as long as they don't mind some spoilers for the books. This adventure is a great opportunity to play in the Cosmere system, learn the ropes, and experiment with multiple characters/magics/times all at once. If you're interested in Sanderson's world and want to see what it's like to be a part of it, this is a fantastic place to start.

About me

I'm a writer and a teacher, and I've been playing Dungeons and dragons for more than ten years, and most of that time has been as a GM for my friends. I've played a few systems (3.5, 5e, Mistborn, Planet Mercenary, Alien RPG, Avatar Legends) and just love the collaborative story telling of TTRPGs. As a GM my campaigns are usually very story focused, and tend toward the "epic fantasy" genre. As such I usually run long term campaigns, but I have done some shorter things as well and am more than willing to do shorter 1 or 2 session games. I believe I help make the game beginner friendly when appropriate, and I pay attention to the players for cues as to where they want to go and what they want to explore and do more. I use Discord primarily for digital games, though I've experimented a little with roll20 and playrole as well. I've recently begun integrating music and sound effects into my campaigns, and I'm working on adding more maps and visual aides as well. Many of the settings and stories I use are based on the books I write. Feel free to share the experiences with your friends, but keep in mind that the details are under copyright.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will work on characters during session 0, but it always helps if you have some ideas beforehand. What magics do you want? What backstories do you want? Keep in mind that you will have two characters across two eras of the world, so there will be ample opportunity to explore various ideas and styles. In the first era you play as a thieving/smuggling crew, and in the second a group of rogue scholars and treasure hunters looking for ancient artifacts. Feel free to use physical or digital character sheets. I can send you links and files for those if you need, and I'm happy to help you brainstorm before session 0 if you want some guidance.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will primarily be on Discord, so an account there is the most important preparation you can do. A demiplane nexus account can also be helpful if you want to use the digital character creator and other tools there. Once you sign up for the game I will send you a discord link to the group and you can introduce yourself to the other players there if you wish.

What Aeremor brings to the table

We'll primarily play using theater of the mind, with images to assist and the occasional map. I have access to all the books, and will provide links to resources in the discord. There will also be a dice bot in the discord so you can roll using digital dice or you are free to bring your own.

How Aeremor creates a safe table

We will discuss themes that may be uncomfortable for you before the first session. If something comes up you can send me an "X card" in a private chat on discord so I can redirect the group as needed.
