About the adventure
It's your first day at Castle High, and somehow you've already landed in detention. Maybe you grabbed the wrong textbook from the library's forbidden section. Maybe you picked a fight with the wrong popular kid. Maybe—just maybe—you actually cheated on your homework. Whatever happened, you're starting freshman year in trouble. Don't worry. You're not the only one. Freshman Year puts the high school in Castle High. We'll play through an entire year in the lives of our students, beginning with a dedicated Session Zero where we'll build our characters, relationships, and school together. Using Daggerheart's collaborative campaign building, your choices will help decide what kind of year this becomes. Attend (or skip) magical classes. Make friends and rivals. Fly high in extreme broom sports. Survive midterms and finals. Ask your crush to the school dance. Start a food fight where the food fights back. And when something strange happens in the halls of Castle High, figure out what you and your new friends will do about it. Freshman Year is a 10-session Daggerheart campaign for levels 1–3, designed as the first chapter of a larger four-year adventure. Each school year tells its own complete story, while returning students can carry their characters, relationships, and choices forward through Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Year. So grab your wand, finish your homework, and try not to get detention again. Your first year at Castle High starts now.

About me
I'm a longtime GM with about 15 years of experience (I started with D&D 4th Edition, but have played 3.5 and mostly 5e. I have around 2000 hours logged on Roll20). In my free time, I enjoy writing fantasy, playing video games, and TTRPGs.

Creating your character
Prior to Session Zero, we'll talk one-on-one over Discord about your character concept, I'll answer any questions you may have, and share any resources you might need. During Session Zero, we'll build level 1 characters together as a group in Demiplane, where I've enabled content sharing, so you'll have access to the core resources. Session Zero will also include a discussion of safety tools, campaign plot, and collaborative game goals.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I use Discord for player communication and voice calls, Roll20 as a Virtual Table Top (VTT), and Demiplane for character sheets. I encourage players to create free accounts on these platforms so that they have access to everything.
What Eric brings to the table
What you can expect from me: * Demiplane access and content sharing * A welcoming and safe space for all players. I include a safety sheet for lines and veils, and expect mutual respect for all players at the table. * A game environment where you can explore immersive character storylines collaboratively. * Player input. I'll frequently look to the players for input on the surrounding world and obstacles you face as a group, and the narrative will change dynamically to accommodate your additions.
Homebrew rules
The Castle High Campaign Frame emphasizes two important, unique rules: * Flight. Your characters will need a way to navigate the skylands, and we'll develop ways for that to work, such as with Skyshards incorporated with a flying broom, skateboard, vaccum, etc. * Less Lethal. This is a high school environment, so death will not be at stake under most circumstances. If a player makes a death move that would normally end in death, it's off to the infirmary for them!

How Eric creates a safe table
I'll be distributing a Lines and Veils document that all players are expected to fill out. We'll also review safety tools and any potential content warnings during session zero.
