About the adventure
After several years in a big city, you craved peace and quiet. The position as a deputy on Ruby Island was the perfect opportunity for that. In the last decade, the only crime in the small community was occasional petty theft and a few tourists being drunk and disorderly. That has changed now the sheriff has been murdered and it's up to you to solve the murder. How you go about it is up to you. There are plenty of NPCs to interrogate, the crime scene to investigate, or you could just arrest the first suspect who appears and conclude that you're done with the case. The first case will be the murder of the sheriff, but later on there will be more cases. Just like in shows about investigators in small towns, Ruby Island will have a murder rate that makes most warzones look safe. All without losing the small town charm of course. We will be using the White Wolf systems, but no overt supernatural elements have been planned so far. Of course, if you like, we can also weave such things into the story. This will really be a detective story like the countless small town murder mysteries, with your character as the lead or even only investigator and a community that might not have fully welcomed them yet. After all, who really trusts an outsider?

About me
Hi! I'm Dirk and I've been GM-ing for around twenty-five years by now and like to think that I've gotten fairly good at it. Like many people, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 back then. Just in time for the complains about 3.5. Yes, edition wars are that old). Fairly quickly, I found that some stories are better told with other systems and so, I built up a slightly oversized collection of books and experience with a plethora of systems. I've ran games for groups of friends and also like to run games at conventions and the like. I find that every story should be tailored to the people at the table, whether it's virtual or an actual one. Aside from games, I enjoy painting miniatures, literature, and, of course, cooking and baking. Those however are a little less relevant for online gaming.

Creating your character
You will generate a regular human character according to the standard rules of either World or Chronicles of darkness. Of course, we can also build the character collaboratively or I could make it for you based on their background history.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be writing on a special-made Discord server that also includes a dice roller and where we can share all necessary information, from character sheets to extra rules and backstory elements.
What Dirk brings to the table
The main focus of the game will be your character, the deputy who has to take on the role of sheriff in this small community. Their first task will be to investigate who murdered the previous sheriff, but when that case is solved, there will be more. Everyone knows that small towns have the highest murder rate in the world. At least, when they become the focus of a detective story.

How Dirk creates a safe table
We will discuss in advance whether there are any topics that are to be avoided or treaded lightly around. We will also use X-cards to immediately stop anything that moves into an unwanted direction.
