About the adventure
Perhaps you won it in a very high stakes game of regicide. Perhaps you inherited it from a distant relative. Perhaps you were one of those few who are so powerful and so annoying that you were given it. But whatever happened, you now are the proud holder of a Warrant of Trade and have gotten your hands on a ship: everything you could possibly need to make your fortune amongst the stars. And that's exactly what you'll do. Or die horribly in the process of course. Being a Rogue Trader isn't safe. We will start with you ready to set sail. There will be several leads to pursue and from there, we can go anywhere in the universe, wherever there's money to be made. The heart of this roleplay is to follow your character as they come into their own in their role and to see them rise to wealth, fame, infamy, or anything else. This game doesn't depend on a deep knowledge of the setting or the game. A Rogue Trader is someone who lives at the edge of legality and the edge of the known universe, so anything someone might think they know can just be a little bit different.

About me
Hi! I'm Dirk and I've been GM-ing for around twenty-five years by now and like to think that I've gotten fairly good at it. Like many people, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 back then. Just in time for the complains about 3.5. Yes, edition wars are that old). Fairly quickly, I found that some stories are better told with other systems and so, I built up a slightly oversized collection of books and experience with a plethora of systems. I've ran games for groups of friends and also like to run games at conventions and the like. I find that every story should be tailored to the people at the table, whether it's virtual or an actual one. Aside from games, I enjoy painting miniatures, literature, and, of course, cooking and baking. Those however are a little less relevant for online gaming.

Creating your character
We will make a regular character according to the Rogue Trader rules. The sum of the dice roles for rolling characteristics should be at least 100. Otherwise, you get to re-roll. Because your character is a beginning Rogue Trader who could have come into this special opportunity in countless ways, there is one other big difference. You'll still get the standard 500 XP for being a starting character and you'll get 25 Ship Points and 10 Profit Factor to begin with. That might not seem like much and it isn't, but you'll also get 90 points to distribute over the three. Which is to say, Ship Points, Profit Factor, and XP. XP is on a slightly different scale so all points that you put into XP give you an additional 100 starting XP. This might sound a bit complicated but we will of course discuss what you want to do.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be writing on a special-made Discord server that also includes a dice roller and where we can share all necessary information, from character sheets to extra rules and backstory elements.
What Dirk brings to the table
The heart of the this roleplay will be your character and how they, as a Rogue Trader, build themselves up to be a true force and, of course, get to swim in their wealth.

How Dirk creates a safe table
We will discuss in advance whether there are any topics that are to be avoided or treaded lightly around. We will also use X-cards to immediately stop anything that moves into an unwanted direction.
