About the adventure

On the distant colony world of LV-426, life is never easy. You and your fellow colonists are miles from home, far beyond the safety of Hadley’s Hope, on what should have been a routine survey mission. Then your tractor breaks down. No backup. No communications. No way back. Your air is running out. You try the radio. Nothing. Hope’s Last Day is a cinematic adventure for the ALIEN Roleplaying Game, set in the terrifying universe of ALIENS. It is designed for both new players and experienced roleplayers, with a story built around exploration, survival, paranoia, and the ever-present fear of the unknown. New to the ALIEN RPG? No problem. The adventure provides an intense introduction to the game's cinematic mechanics, where every decision matters and survival is never guaranteed. Experienced players will find plenty to uncover, with opportunities for investigation, tense roleplaying, resource management, and moments where the safest choice may not be the best one.

About me

My name is Jamie, and I’ve been passionate about tabletop roleplaying games for decades. My journey began with classic games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Star Wars RPG, Paranoia, and Star Trek RPG, and it has grown into a lifelong hobby. Beyond roleplaying games, I’m also an avid board gamer who enjoys exploring a wide variety of genres, mechanics, and settings. As a Game Master, I’ve run hundreds of games ranging from single-session adventures to epic campaigns that lasted for years. I enjoy creating immersive experiences and use a variety of technology to bring my worlds to life, including Foundry VTT, custom maps and floor plans, curated music, artwork, and even movie clips to help establish mood and atmosphere. My goal is always to create memorable stories, engaging characters, and exciting moments that players will be talking about long after the game ends.

Character creation

Creating your character

For Alien RPG: Hope's Last Day, character creation is not required. This cinematic adventure uses a cast of pre-generated characters specifically designed for the story, each with their own background, motivations, relationships, and hidden agendas that help drive the narrative forward. Before the game begins, players will choose from the available characters and receive everything needed to jump right into the action. No rulebooks, character generation, or system knowledge are necessary. New players are especially welcome, and I will guide everyone through the rules as we play. The focus is on immersive storytelling, teamwork, suspense, and having a great time together as we experience this sci-fi horror adventure.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Getting ready for Alien RPG: Hope's Last Day is easy. First, make sure you have a Discord account, as we'll use Discord for all game communication before the session and for voice and video during play. A few days before Session Zero, I'll send you the discord server and the Foundry VTT link along with your username and password. Foundry runs directly in your web browser, so there is no need to buy software or install a virtual tabletop. During Session Zero, we'll go over the game, answer any questions, and select from the adventure's cast of pre-generated characters. Since Hope's Last Day is a cinematic adventure, there is no character creation required. Each character comes with their own background, secrets, motivations, and connections to the story. Foundry VTT handles most of the game mechanics, character sheets, and dice rolling, so you won't need any physical dice or rulebooks.

What Jamie GM brings to the table

I run immersive, story-driven games that focus on player choice, suspense, and memorable moments. For Alien RPG: Hope's Last Day, you can expect atmospheric roleplay, meaningful decisions, dangerous encounters, and plenty of tension as the story unfolds. To bring the experience to life, I make extensive use of Foundry VTT, featuring fully developed scenes with visual effects, dynamic lighting, full-color maps, custom artwork, and immersive environmental details. I also use ambient music, sound effects, and atmospheric audio to help create the feeling of being inside the Alien world. I believe in collaborative storytelling where the players help shape the narrative. While I respect the game rules, I'm also a fan of the Rule of Cool. Creative ideas, cinematic actions, and memorable character moments are always encouraged when they make the story better. My goal is simple: provide an engaging, inclusive, and immersive experience where everyone has a chance to shine while surviving the horrors of deep space.

Safety

How Jamie GM creates a safe table

I use several safety tools to make sure everyone at the table feels comfortable and respected. The primary tool I use is the X-Card, which allows any player to signal—through video, chat, or another agreed method—that content has crossed a personal boundary. When that happens, the game immediately moves away from the topic without requiring an explanation. During Session Zero, I also establish Lines and Veils so players can identify subjects that are either off-limits or should remain off-screen. After each session, I use Stars and Wishes to gather feedback on what players enjoyed and what they would like to see in future games, helping ensure the table remains safe, fun, and collaborative for everyone.
