About the adventure

You are an exorcist, a thing, not a person. You have been cursed with psychic capabilities, and as a result, the corporate entity known as CAIN has taken you as their property. You now hunt SINs, psionic manifestations of different humans' trauma. You find them, you kill them, wash, rinse, repeat. You exist to protect and serve humanity, until you die, go rogue, or in some very rare cases, get to retire. A game that is inspired by exorcist shonen greats such as Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, CAIN is about trauma and how it manifests in people, with a set dressing of terrifying horror and slick action. It sports a narrative first, rules light approach that is engaging and easy to understand.

About me

I enjoy fast-paced, but also thoughtful and intense games. I wanted to start hosting games in order to share my love of horror, dark fantasy, and dark science fiction gaming.

Character creation

Creating your character

This will happen during session 0, as a group, in order to ensure that everyone is on the same page, and can link characters together. I allow the core book, as well as some third party resources which are available on Itch.io.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

There should be a discord account. I will have a discord server prepared before the game for players to join. Physical dice can be used, but if I find out there is any fudging of rolls, I will require the dice bot to be used.

What Theodosia brings to the table

I use character voices, mannerisms, and ambient music to increase immersion in the game. I try to strike a good balance between rule of cool and rules as written, allowing for a fair bit of wiggle room as the story calls for it.

Homebrew rules

Third party homebrew supplements available on Itch.io.

Safety

How Theodosia creates a safe table

I utilize the X card, lines and veils, as well as a consent sheet to keep everyone safe. I also have a rule called "blackout," which functions as a safe word method to implement the x-card as necessary. I actively check on my players frequently throughout the campaign, in and out of session. There will be boundaries put in place as a part of session 0. I am open to modifying content warnings as the group sees fit.
