About the adventure
"Andaluria is a land of sweeping vineyards where beauty and dread intertwine. By day, the streets and valleys are alive with festivals, music, and the scent of wine--but when the sun sets, monsters come out to feast. For generations, the old superstitions and folk rites kept the beasts at bay, but of late the nights have grown unnaturally long, and the citizens of Andaluria live in fear of increasingly terrifying monsters. In a Dark Heart of Andaluria campaign, you'll play monster hunters who must investigate horrific crimes, navigate political strife, and slay supernatural creatures to protect the people from eternal darkness." When disaster strikes at the seasonal wine festival, a team of monster hunters of the Sombral Spade are tasked with determining who is responsible. As a player in this 8-10 session Daggerheart campaign, you will build a level 3 character and undertake a mortifying monster hunt. Explore a land plagued by werewolves, vampires, and other creatures of the night. Investigate the clues. Unravel the conspiracies. Confront the darkness in whatever form it takes, and become the heroes of the land of Andaluria. This monster-hunting campaign is inspired by the World of Darkness, The Witcher, Castlevania, Curse of Strahd, and you -- the player! This campaign will be built collaboratively, meaning that player-character decisions, backstories, requests, and suggestions will impact the adventure as we go! Start with Tier 2 equipment, try out new gameplay content from the Hope and Fear expansion, and enjoy the Daggerheart game system from Darrington Press and Critical Role! Open to all. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC+ friendly. Crafted for new players and experienced players alike. Human-made maps and art.

About me
Hello! My name is Travis (he/they), and I have a whopping 15 years of experience running games of Dungeons & Dragons across a variety of editions, timespans, and settings. I have spent most of my life just outside of Lake Geneva, WI, the birthplace of the game, and I fell in love it when I stumbled across a starter set at a local garage sale. The rest is history. I have a bachelor's degree in English with a certificate in creative writing, and I am attending classes to earn a master's degree and become a mental health counselor. As such, I run games to experience the joy of building rewarding narratives and creating memorable stories in a collaborative setting, but I also run games to offer others a safe and encouraging environment in which they can express and enjoy themselves.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please ensure you have a working microphone and a stable internet connection. Please make an account on heartofdaggers.com for character creation and Discord for audio/video.
What TravTheGM brings to the table
I use Foundry Virtual Tabletop, Heart of Daggers, and Discord Voice Chat to run my digital games. I provide digital maps and tokens as well as ambient music, and each player can adjust its volume for themselves per their own preferences. We use audio for chat, with video being optional. I am alright with players roleplaying their characters in either a first-person or third-person perspective, but I prefer to put on voices and act out my characters to create a more immersive experience. I invite others to do so as well!
Homebrew rules
-You may use the "help an ally" feature after the ally makes their trait roll; you don't need to declare it before the roll is made. -During a group roll, the supporting PCs' successes add a +2 to the leader's result, rather than +1. Similarly, the supporting PCs' failures result in -2 rather than -1.

Safety
How TravTheGM creates a safe table
While I am still learning the finer details of the Daggerheart rules, I have nearly 20 years of experience running TTRPGs. My games are accessible to new players and experienced players alike, they are LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly, and they utilize safety tools to help everyone feel comfortable. Safety tools implemented in my campaigns include content warnings, the X-Card, and the (optional) RPG Consent in Gaming Checklist to establish Lines and Veils. We can also pause/rewind/fast-forward elements of the game if we need to. However, be warned; the content in The Dark Heart of Andaluria is bleak, macabre, and intense. If more than 3 of the items included in the content warnings below are hard "Lines" for you, meaning you prefer they not be included or alluded to within your gameplay at all, then I advise finding a different adventure to play.
