About the adventure
Superheroes are just a fact of life. Everyone in the city has a story on how they were saved by a hero at some point, be it a simple mugging or the type a mad scientist turned everyone into hamsters. The world moves on, finds a way to adapt, and a status quo is established. Then one day, a D-list supervillain robbing a bank takes out one of the world's best superheroes, to the shock of everyone. Including the villain, in too much shock to even resist arrest. All over the world, seemingly at random, people are experiencing a surge in power, from those self same D-list types, to those who could maybe make a penny float, to some who didn't even know they could have powers at all. The new surge brings about chaos, with new and more powerful malicious actors, to those who don't know how to control themselves. And worst of all? Something is making those professional heroes disappear. That's where you come in. You weren't a hero before. You didn't have the ability or opportunity to, but someone has to step up and it looks like its going to be you. ~~~ This game will be using a lightly modified Mage the Ascension system. This is not a Mage game, the lore is irrelevant, but the system will be used in creating heroes and handling combat. While the world is in chaos, this is not meant to be a grim story. Superheroes are meant to bring hope in dire times, to try and find the right way to handle a problem, and use their powers responsibly, largely taking inspiration from stories of the nineties and animated superhero shows.

About me
Dungeon and Dragons and TTRPGs have been a staple of my life since I was in the single digits. I've had experience in all sorts of systems, from good old DnD to Shadow Run to Dread. If its a game system, chances are I've played it at least once, but of course I have the systems I'm most familiar with. Fantasy, sci fi, something more realistic, and even the occasional horror, I hope to run a variety of games for people. I love creativity and I love the great stories that come out of several people's ideas mixing together. Rules and modules are guidelines, but what matters is everyone is having fun. While I prefer games that are more roleplay heavy, combats and puzzles are certainly fun as well.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during session zero or outside of game time if joining later on. We're starting with basic characters. I have the necessary books for character creation. For those familiar, we'll be using the sphere aspect of Mage to build your powers and what fuels them. This will allow us to define what your powers are, but also how they can be pushed as your character levels up.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure you have a microphone, a Discord and Foundry account. You will need to join a Discord community.
What Sabre G brings to the table
I will be providing the books necessary for character creation. I use music to help set the tone and voices are attempted. Due to the nature of Mage itself, Rule of Cool is more likely to win the day. This is a game that encourages creativity and the more you can justify a creative solution, the more likely its to go off. I lean more to storytelling than crunchy combat, but it should still interesting problems to solve in the moment.
Homebrew rules
As mentioned, this is not a Mage game, so the Lore is not relevant. Paradox and Quintessence are replaced with an honor system, where the world becomes more hostile to those who are abusing their powers, and rewarded for more heroic actions. The spheres are used to create powers, but since these are superheroes, there is less being able to alter reality on a fundamental level, but also a little more reliability in how the powers work.

How Sabre G creates a safe table
We will be going over safety concerns in session zero. I also ask players to fill out a consent form. I also have an open door policy. You will have private threads on the Discord so if at any point you are having a problem, you can message me directly so I can deal with it without having to bring it up in front of everyone.
