About the adventure
"A century has passed since the God-King Othedias betrayed the Pantheon, provoking divine punishment and abandonment by the gods that left the realm of the Halcyon Domain shattered, desolate, and eternally cursed. Throughout this shadow-choked land of decaying fortresses and dreadful monstrosities, surviving communities cling to hope in the face of lightless oblivion. In an Age of Umbra campaign, you'll play heroic survivors who protect their community from the terrors beyond their walls, venture out into the unknown to hunt the nightmares that twist and grow within each fallen soul, seek answers to the curses that corrupt this world, and perhaps even discover a way to change its fate." Huntmaster Evrados is missing. The revered community leader left the Enduring city of Okros to investigate the depths of the Shalk Chasm. The expedition's purpose was to investigate rumors of a temple to a mysterious Veiled God, and to recover any resources that could help the Enduring back home survive. He never returned. Each night, familiar screams call out from beyond the walls of the city. Some say the Huntmaster was corrupted by the Umbra, the powerful curse that plagues the Halcyon Domain. Others say his fate was worse. As an Enduring adventurer from the city of Okros, your quest will be to follow in the Huntmaster's footsteps. You have been tasked with journeying to the Shalk Chasm, uncovering its secrets, and discovering the fate of the lost expedition. This is a level 2 one-shot with a focus on combat, exploration, and collaborative storytelling. This adventure is a great opportunity to learn the rules of Daggerheart, try out new content from the Hope and Fear expansion, and explore the dark fantasy campaign frame created by Critical Role's Matt Mercer and inspired by the likes of Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Berserk.

About me
Hello! My name is Travis (he/they), and I have a whopping 15 years of experience running games of Dungeons & Dragons across a variety of editions, timespans, and settings. I have spent most of my life just outside of Lake Geneva, WI, the birthplace of the game, and I fell in love it when I stumbled across a starter set at a local garage sale. The rest is history. I have a bachelor's degree in English with a certificate in creative writing, and I am attending classes to earn a master's degree and become a mental health counselor. As such, I run games to experience the joy of building rewarding narratives and creating memorable stories in a collaborative setting, but I also run games to offer others a safe and encouraging environment in which they can express and enjoy themselves.

Preparing for the session
Please ensure you have a working microphone and a stable internet connection. Please make an account on heartofdaggers.com for character creation and Discord for audio/video.
What TravTheGM brings to the table
I use Foundry Virtual Tabletop, Heart of Daggers, and Discord Voice Chat to run my digital games. I provide digital maps and tokens as well as ambient music, and each player can adjust its volume for themselves per their own preferences. We use audio for chat, with video being optional. I am alright with players roleplaying their characters in either a first-person or third-person perspective, but I prefer to put on voices and act out my characters to create a more immersive experience. I invite others to do so as well!
Homebrew rules
-You may use the "help an ally" feature after the ally makes their trait roll; you don't need to declare it before the roll is made. -During a group roll, the supporting PCs' successes add a +2 to the leader's result, rather than +1. Similarly, the supporting PCs' failures result in -2 rather than -1.

How TravTheGM creates a safe table
While I am still learning the finer details of the Daggerheart rules, I have nearly 20 years of experience running TTRPGs. My games are accessible to new players and experienced players alike, they are LGBTQ+ and BIPOC friendly, and they utilize safety tools to help everyone feel comfortable. Safety tools implemented in my campaigns include content warnings, the X-Card, and the (optional) RPG Consent in Gaming Checklist to establish Lines and Veils. We can also pause/rewind/fast-forward elements of the game if we need to. However, be warned; the content in Age of Umbra is bleak, macabre, and intense. If more than 3 of the items included in the content warnings below are hard "Lines" for you, meaning you prefer they not be included or alluded to within your gameplay at all, then I advise finding a different adventure to play.
