About the adventure
**Survive the Wastes** Deep within the heart of the Torn Lands stretches the Great Wasteland, an unforgiving expanse of cursed dunes and suffocating heat. Beneath these shifting sands rot the ruins of a fallen civilization—a doomed empire whose ruin forever poisoned the soil and bound its dead to the earth. Your journey starts in Al’Kirat, a resilient tiefling sanctuary standing as the final bastion of civilization in a brutal, hostile realm. But in a land defined by tragedy, hope is a precious, fleeting commodity. **Awaken the Past** The delicate balance shatters as greedy fortune hunters unearth forbidden relics from the dust, disturbing a terror that should have remained buried. Ancient tombs split open, and forgotten kings stir from centuries of dark slumber. Bound by an immortal wrath, vast armies of the dead now crawl from their crypts, raising banners of bone and rust. Their march has begun, and their unrelenting gaze is fixed directly on Al’Kirat, threatening to wipe the last ember of life from the desert forever. **Claim Your Destiny** Will your party brave the scorched wilderness to uncover the secrets of the cataclysm, or will you fall to the endless tide of undead? *Sands of Doom* by Mr. Rhexx brings you a thrilling 5th Edition campaign packed with terrifying new monsters, ancient lore, deadly survival mechanics, and an apocalyptic race against time. The sands are shifting, the dead are marching, and the fate of the Torn Lands rests in your hands. Back the campaign today and forge your legacy!

About me
I have been playing D&D for about 20 years. I started in college and fell in love with the story telling aspect. I've been GMing for about 15 of those years.

Creating your character
I will go over all this in Session 0 but there are no limits on your character. Everyone will start at level 1 and will have appropriate equipment for a new character. Stats are whatever you wanna do, if you prefer the roll 4d6-lowest or point buy, I'm fine. The only rule I ask you to follow is that if you create in 2014 or 2024, STICK TO IT. No bouncing between the rule sets.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing over Roll20 and Discord. I will set up a Discord channel and provide the link to both once they are done.
What Ben the DM brings to the table
I don't really do voices but I'll try to have appropriate ambient music going. I embrace the Rule of Cool as long as you can justify it, otherwise it's Rules as Written. Since I'll be running a module, there will be combat, roleplay, and puzzle solving.
Homebrew rules
Potion drinking: if you drink it as a bonus action, you roll; if you drink it as a full action, you get full hp from it (ie 2d4+2 = 10 for a minor, and so on). Nat 1s don't necessarily mean you've lost/broken your weapon or hurt an ally but there will be consequences. Critical hit rewards are calculated by a table which I will provide as a handout in roll20. Basic summary is that you roll a d20 again and that will give you your reward. Called shots are a thing but increases the AC appropriately. Standard spell components and ammo are assumed unless it's specialty items (explosive arrows, resurrection diamonds, etc).

Safety
How Ben the DM creates a safe table
Before we begin the campaign, I'll be doing a session 0 where we can discuss the topics presented in the campaign, which are pretty heavy. After each session, I'll leave room for a debrief and aftercare period. If for any reason, during any session, you feel the topics are too heavy, we can take a break or you can drop out. Just let me know. I like the idea of using the "X, N, and O cards", just type them in the chat, or send me a private message if you don't want to broadcast it.
