About the adventure
The Drylands were a place that put the old stories aside. While superstitious miners have long said that the crystals growing wild in this desert are made from the very life-essence of Forgotten Gods, the folk around here had real work to do, and actual deities were left for campfire stories. That is, until a massive colossus answered the call of something ancient and apocalyptic, rising from the earth and devastating the lands. The bold prospectors, tired laborers, and born-again worshippers in the dusty town of Wyllin’s Gulch were thrown from their routine of industry and exploitation, forced to raise scattered armies and watch them die to the behemoth’s strength. And this is only the first of many titanic beasts poised to terrorize the land. In a Colossus of the Drylands campaign, you’ll play a heroic posse of mavericks who must save their home from a legion of colossi and a primordial god seeking vengeance. ~~~ Drop-in, drop-out campaign style; stay as long as you want! Fight enormous enemies the size of mountains! Choose your own adventure! Contained stories within a greater narrative! Watch the world around you change as a result of your actions... and others!

Meet the Game Master
About me
We have all had that moment where we encountered something that sparked our interest in TTRPGs: catching a glimpse of a fantasy cover art, connecting with a heroic character arc in a film, getting caught up in the grand story of a video game – something that inspired us to say “I could do something like that!” For me, that moment came one afternoon ten years ago when, after numerous failed starts, I resolved that if no else was willing to take the DM’s chair, I’d just have to it myself. My whole life had led me to that moment and I haven’t looked back since. My name is J. Lawrence Kenny and in addition to a half decade of Dungeon Mastering, I hold a BFA in Theatre Performance and bring three decades of acting and storytelling experience to my table. Nothing brings me greater joy then when my party cheers, or gasps in horror, or let loose a string of expletives (or any combo of all three!) over a story moment I have spent hours devising just for them. Your characters will be personally tied into whatever is happening - their stories, their goals, will fuel and shape the events of the campaign. And, with a little luck, you will experience a complete character arc with a dramatic and satisfying conclusion…or at least be left with an interesting hook to carry onto the next adventure! At my table you will interact with memorable NPCs, explore unique and expansive worlds, and take center stage in compelling stories that will leave plenty of room for individuality and lateral thinking. Your character will always be the driving force; the underdog overcoming antagonists far beyond their limits, the everyman catapulted onto the stage of grand events, the hero who saves the world. The stories we create together will be far more interesting and fun than the stories we could create alone.

Creating your character
Unlike other West Marches games, all players level up together, as a result of the released energy of the Colossi. Current level: 1. Standard character creation rules apply. You may also use any weapons from the Colossus Campaign Frame, and any content from the homebrew "Pistolheart" is allowed. You may also take 1 item from the item tables up to number 12 (Loaded Dice in Hope & Fear, Empty Chest in Core Rulebook). Any other homebrew can be approved upon review. Daggerheart is a strongly character-focused game, and so if you would like your character to feel like a part of the world, aside from building the world together during the game, you can provide a list of no more than 3 NPCs which I will do my best to involve during the course of a session if possible.

How J Lawrence Kenny creates a safe table
As a drop-in campaign, I cannot do my usual Session Zero with everyone. Personally, I do not tolerate any bigotry at my tables of any kind, either in real life or in game, and no mentions of sexual assault. RPG Consent Checklist is your friend!
