About the adventure

Hundred of years ago, the Rise occurred, sending everything with a magical skyshard within it into the clouds. Now, in an age of knights and cars, wands and flip phones, many people live in the islands in the sky, using skyshard artifacts to get around. And no such island is better known than Castle High: a boarding school for teenagers, where your characters attend as students. Here, algebra and literature are studied alongside swordplay and spellcasting. Elf wizards wear glasses and get bullied by jocks on the jousting team. And parents worry about their children getting bad grading and taking up this new "Blade Surfing" trend. But that's not the only thing to worry about. For the past year, people have been mysteriously going missing: first eight students, then Castle High's Headmaster, and now your new friend Riley. Everyone's talking about these disappearances, but the faculty refuse to do anything or even acknowledge that they're happening. So its up to you to get to the bottom of what's going on, to find Riley and stop whatever's causing people to disappear.

About me

Hi I'm Noblequest, and I've loved TTRPGs since before high school! As a GM I'm kind, patient, and inclusive. I'm most experienced with Dungeons And Dragons 5e, but I love Daggerheart and am looking for any excuse to play more of it. I charge $15 per player per hour, and would love to guide a regular group through a campaign or campaign frame. Let me know if you're interested in my services! (Profile Picture by Lunevani)

Character creation

Creating your character

We will begin the campaign with a session zero, during which I will explain basic rules, including character creation. We will be starting at level 1, and will use the standard Daggerheart ability bonus array. I will make digital character sheets in Roll20 for everyone to use. This should help with character creation while also making all rolls visible. As for character creation options, all official options released by Darrington Press are permitted, including playtest content from the Void. Otherwise, please remain within the Core Rulebook and the Hope And Fear Expansion.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please make Discord and Roll20 accounts if you don't have them already. I will send interested parties my Discord handle, and through that send the Roll20 link. If possible, please watch Critical Role's "Get Your Sheet Together" series on YouTube before our session zero, or at least the videos explaining basic play and character creation. That way I can quickly answer clarifying questions and focus more time on creating characters and establishing the adventurable locations.

What Noblequest brings to the table

I own both digital and physical copies of the Daggerheart Core Rulebook, as well as a digital copy of the Hope and Fear expansion. I also do character voices, provide ambient music, and make my combat encounters balanced and story relevant. I also do Rule Of Cool when there are ambiguities with the rules as written.

Homebrew rules

For the purposes of this more lighthearted campaign, especially for first time players, I am willing to keep things non lethal. Anything that would normally kill a character (such as a Blaze of Glory death move) will instead take a player character out of play for the rest of the session. If this happens to all players, the situation takes a turn for the worse. I am very open to discussing all of this in more detail in session zero.

Safety

How Noblequest creates a safe table

I will go over boundaries for subjects like horror, violence, and sexuality during the session zero itself, and am open to having other types of boundaries. I will then avoid crossing those boundaries when planning future sessions and enforce them during campaign sessions as needed. During campaign sessions, a player may at any time request for content that is currently being discussed to be either Lined or Veiled. Veiled content will receive minimal necessary description at that time and avoided when possible from then on. When content is Lined, I will ask the requesting player what happens instead so that they may reform the content as they require, and I will avoid that content completely from then onward. Furthermore, 5-15 minute breaks can be requested at any time. If a player feels the need to leave a session for their own safety they may do so at any time, and may (but are not required to) discuss the reason for their departure (either with the group or privately with the GM) when they are comfortable doing so.
