About the adventure
Something evil has begun to appear around the realm. A malady of unknown origin targeting those who have died and been revived by magical means. They seem to be afflicted with strange rashes and describe an uncertain feeling of doom. Nobody knows exactly what this might be, or where it originates, but powerful divinations have shown the visage of Chult's jungles and ruins, and whispers speak of a dark presence brewing way deep within... Many have travelled to Chult in search for answers, but only time may tell what awaits those daring or foolish enough to tread this dangerous and beautiful land filled with history and culture. 👑Information: Tomb of Annihilation is a gritty and dangerous campaign that'll take you from levels 1-11~ The adventure will take you through Chult's jungles, beaches, mountains and swamps. Along the way, you will uncover ancient ruins and cultures lost to time or occupied by unexpected inhabitants with various agendas and motives driving them. Outsiders involving themselves in the matters of this land hailing from lands both close and far away, complicate matters even further, as everyone has something to gain from Chult's fate. 🌴Gameplay: Tomb of Annihilation involves a lot of exploration through dangerous, dinosaur and undead infested lands. As such, a good portion of the adventure will include travelling through the hexes that make up this peninsula by land, air or sea. In doing so, you will encounter all the various denizens of this magical land, and will be faced with a variety of difficult situations that might be too much to face head-on in battle and will require careful negotiations, smart play or silent steps to avoid altogether. While dangerous and highly lethal, this adventure will not be a meat-grinder. It will test your abilities and planning on the fly, as well as your morals and when to compromise them in favor of keeping you and your companions safe or gaining information. In addition, through the use of various variant rules and modified mechanics both created by me and inspired by various sources, the feel of lethality and the ability to best death will be palpable, and every day you survive the jungles of Chult will make you sigh with relief. The adventure will also include lots of delving through various ruins and the dangerous traps within. Historian or Archeologist characters, as well as other various types of sages and studiers of lore will be able to uncover the history of this land, learn the customs of Chult, and engage in Port Nyanzaru's various politics, as well as those from cultures outside the city port's walls.

About me
Greetings! Name's Henry :) I've been DMing for about 6 years now, and came to the conclusion I really do adore this hobby. So I figured "Hey, why not try to do it professionally?" and here we are. I'll try to give you the best tabletop experience I can offer, and try to accomodate to your needs. I usually focus on character storytelling a fair bit, so I'll try to bring your lil fantasy dude/dudette/dude-other to life :D (Although I do love me some good combat). So join me, unlikely hero, as we explore a world of my creation!

Creating your character
Characters will be made using the 2024 player's handbook character creation rules. Stats will be generated using point buy (Use this website to do so: https://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html) You are encouraged to build your sheet at our session 0 for the campaign, already having an idea of what you're going to play to speed things up, but in case of already having a character made are free to send it over for review beforehand. You can use character options from both the Player's Handbook (2024) and Heroes of Faerûn. All characters, aside from the starting gold from your background and starting equipment for your class, are free to choose one common magic item tied to their backstory or background. You are encouraged to make it a personal trinket (Such as the origin of their abilities or the last gift of a dead relative) or some other tool significant to them.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account to log into the DND server where we will be hosting the game, and a Forge account (https://forge-vtt.com/) to log into the game and access your sheets.
What Henry brings to the table
I love roleplay, and always encourage character driven playstyles and motivations for decision making during my games. I do a variety of voices, sound effects and use a wide array of music to set the scene for players and immerse them into the adventure. For this adventure, as it will include a good amount of exploration, I will heavily favor creative solutions using the tools available to you through class features, feats or spells, and will allow you to find ways out of sticky situations with creative planning and roleplay with both NPCs and your fellow players. This adventure will also be quite dangerous, as mentioned in the game description. I've made some changes in certain areas and to certain mechanics to always give you the opportunity to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, but you are encouraged to have at least one backup always available during the campaign in case of unfortunate events that might befall your character or narrative turns that might put them out of commission.
Homebrew rules
There will be a variety of homebrew rules used for this game. While all the important ones will be listed here, more details on each one will be found in the player handout given out to all who apply for the game! - Potions can be used as either an action or a bonus action. When a healing potion is used as an action, you forgo rolling and apply the maximum possible healing to yourself or a creature within 5 feet. - When downed during combat, you get a level of exhaustion. (2024 version) - When a character would be reduced to 0 Hit Points, their player can choose instead to take a Grievous Wound. Grievous Wounds have a variety of effects, ranging from disadvantage on weapon attacks made with strength, speed reduction, or other similar hinderances. A Grievous Wound when cured with a medicine check during a Long Rest - When a character dies from an effect that doesn’t outright destroy them, their player can choose instead to take a Permanent Wound. Permanent Wounds work similarly to Grievous Wounds but, as the name implies, are permanent and more debilitating (Such as losing an arm, a leg, or having your immune system damaged). While permanent, they could be fixed by an appropriate effect or spell (Such as regrowing a lost limb with Regenerate), or through prosthetics. - Resting while travelling through Chult only allows for a Short Rest. To Long Rest properly, characters must find a settlement to rest within (Such as a set of ruins that accommodate them and offers protection from the elements) and settle down for a 24hr period. This is not guaranteed, even when scouting for them, as there's a chance no ruins will be nearby. Most named locations provide such conditions, and are encouraged to be used as resting sites. - Iron and steel weapons of the Swords Coast are more prone to rusting and suffer a cumulative -1 penalty to attack and damage rolls for each week spent in the rainforest, breaking completely on a -5. Weapons do not rust if they're made of Chultan Bronze (See Handout), stone, adamantine, are magical in any way, or a regularly oiled. Features that temporarily make a weapon magical will delay the onset of rust.

How Henry creates a safe table
We will be using a consent check-list to relay topics the player would like to avoid, phobias they might have, or themes they would like to treat a certain way. In addition, we will have X, N, and O cards to stop unexpected situations by PMing me through Discord. We also have built-in mid-session breaks to wind down during the game.
