About the adventure
*This adventure, Buried in the Bahamas, is an introductory adventure to PirateBorg, including character creation and a quick summary of the rules.* When the crew of skeletons piloting the Ship of the Dead, pursuing the same treasure that the cruel Captain Bloodwhip is, send his ship, The Tarantula, into the rocks, the captain is killed and the whole crew sent overboard, finding themselves marooned and holding the map to the untold riches Bloodwhip sought. Can the crew survive long enough to get off of the island? If they manage that, can they locate the long lost treasure in the depths of the Mesoan ruins of the Cavern of the Seven Skulls? The Dark Caribbean is a cruel place filled with dark magics, cultists, and deadly creatures, the likes of which have yet to be catalogued by naturalists. Perhaps the crew will perish like many before them and join the ranks of the undead hordes.

About me
Joshua's journey into TTRPGs began over ten years ago when he stepped up as a de-facto GM to run a homebrew western for his friends. Since then, he has helmed four full campaigns, including a current, year-long weekly game, and countless one-shots. He has a deep respect for how mechanics shape tone, drawing from experience with systems ranging from rules-lite OSR and Nu-SR titles like Pirate Borg and Cy_Borg to crunchier systems like OpenD6, D&D 5e, and Call of Cthulhu. He is a fan of sci-fi, swashbuckling tales, and alternate histories layered with fantastic elements. Joshua thrives in open-ended sandbox adventures that maximize player agency. He uses established modules as a baseline, seamlessly modifying them with strong improv skills to adapt to player choices. His games rely on rich characters, tactical combat, and integrated player backstories that emerge naturally through play. To elevate the immersion, he curates atmospheric soundscapes and crafts custom physical terrain or standees for complex encounters. Joshua aims for a sincere table culture where comedy and melodrama coexist naturally to fit the truth of the world. He welcomes beginners and views his role as a GM as setting up the bowling pins so that his players can have the satisfaction of knocking them down.

Creating your character
Players will be creating characters during this session using the character creation rules found in the PirateBorg Core Book (p. 27). Stats and starting inventory will be randomly rolled during character creation.
Characters will be generated at the table, no need to worry about party makeup!

How Joshua creates a safe table
Many Pirates were ruthless cutthroats, but that doesn't mean that we have to be! Please read the content warnings below to get an understanding of what the game and setting may contain. We will, before play begins, discuss any off-limits topics players may have. If any content makes a player uncomfortable, they may stop play to identify it and the group can decide on how to proceed. The game will likely straddle the line between PG-13 and R-Rated films.
