About the adventure

Thirty years have passed since the ceasefire, but the scars of over a hundred years of war still remain. The land that originally belonged to the elven people has now been almost entirely conquered by the Nelarian Empire, which came from overseas. The native elves fought fiercely but were ultimately defeated. Even so, many still resist, preparing for the day when the fragile peace inevitably breaks. The adventure takes place in the small village of Haven, where the locals do their best to coexist and make use of the peace treaty. Yet even without open war, trouble persists. Wild beasts behave erratically, and rumors of undead spirits appearing at night spread unease—ominous signs that something is about to happen. Outside of Haven and the other Nelarian colonies, the land of Aqurea feels like untamed wilderness, filled with beasts, strange flora, and ancient elven ruins waiting to have their secrets unearthed. The tone leans toward high fantasy with a strong sense of discovery. However, when exploring themes such as the scars of war and the tensions between cultures, the story may also delve into political intrigue. Content Warning: This campaign includes themes of “fantasy racism,” as the long war was, in simplified terms, fought between humans and elves No AI is used in any capacity in this or any of my games

Character creation

Creating your character

Bring a few character ideas and concepts to our session zero, we can discuss which motivations will fit best in the setting and the current lore. We will decide starting level at session zero. You can use any official material no problem. If you want to use 3rd party or homebrew content, it needs to be checked before allowed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Discord for voice chat (webcams are optional) and Foundry VTT (with over 60 modules for enhanced immersion and experience) for maps and grids. Optionally, you can use D&D Beyond for your character sheet management. You dont need previous experience with any of these tools, I'll help guide you to use them.

What Ariel Gaspar brings to the table

I'm a professional DM with 10+ years of experience, so you can expect balanced combat encounters, deep roleplay oportunities and a mastery of the game rules. For this campaign specifically I'll also bring a lot of real life events for inspiration on the lore and worldbuilding, namely the conquering of South America by the Portuguese. The Rule of Cool is on! Rejoice! Although I'm more leaned on using the rules as they are, we will have some leverage with the RoC. Also, flavour is free!

Homebrew rules

All homebrew rules will be discused in the session zero, such as an alternative for rolling stats and possibly implementing some survival rules when exploring the untamed wilderness of Aqurea.
