About the adventure

Pick up your provisional hunting license and traverse lands of titanic fauna and perilous flora in WRATHBILGE ISLAND, a beast slaying, coming-of-age fantasy set on the eponymous island within the world of Omiraeya. Your task is simple, investigate bizarre monsters on the undocumented island referred to fondly as Wrathbilge and collect seven specimens so that the guild can update their global codex. Having just recently left your homes and passed your pre-liminary hunter's exam this is your final test to prove you are worthy of the title and become official members of the Solar Hawk guild. You, yes you were personally picked by Guild Master Xavi to fulfil this task as his best and brightest trainees. Funny thing is, this is far from the normal recruiting procedure. And you're not even certain that the hunter's collective has okayed this operation. Try to have fun, get to know and confide in each other, danger is lurking everywhere you look. If you find yourself staring into a maw, or on the wrong side of a talon? Be prepared to fight your way out. Because, if not, no one is coming to save you.

About me

Hey, Koye here, also known as @Kr1ypt!D almost everywhere else, the guy who talks to himself and pretends to be other people. I adore tales of adventure, where rejects can become heroes, criminals can cause cosmic change and words can cut as deep as a blade. I'm a fiend for mythology, manga, movies, anime and folklore and tend to spend hours upon hours researching. If they handed out medals for making people uneasy by saying "Don't worry about it", I'd bring home the gold every year...Why? Join a game...you'll see >:}

Creating your character

Character Creation Rundown! Level 5 Character, Any Class Race Must Be One of The Following: Any Human, Gnome, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, Goblin and Tabaxi however when picking your size category for Tabaxi you must choose Small Roll 4d6, Drop Lowest, Re-Roll 1s 1 Common Magic Item, 1 Uncommon Level 1 Feat (Unless Playing a Variant Human) D&D Beyond Link! https://www.dndbeyond.com/campaigns/join/79186192350914725 You can make your character sheets on there ^^, I've turned content sharing on, so you have access to all the dnd classes, subclasses, races and subraces that I've got BACKSTORY! PLEASE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT LENGTH I love reading extensive backstories, the more pages they take up on a doc the better, but if you don't have that much to write that's also okay! PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS Why did you want to become a hunter? What is your dream? What happened during your exam that made you think you failed? Why do you think Guild Master Xavi chose you? What is your greatest fear? What is an irrational fear of yours? What island do you hail from? (You're free to make one up but you can also message me if you have an idea for an environment/climate I can let you know if an Island like that already exists) Please include all of this information in a google doc, for easy edits and updates! Again, any additional information you have please don't hesitate to send that my way. Before our first session I'll be messaging you all individually to make sure everything fits together

What Koye Candide-Johnson @Kr1ypt!D brings to the table

I'm a firm believer that rule of cool and rule of cruel go hand in hand, if you want cinematic, larger than life set pieces? I'm your guy. If you want angst and moments of deep reflection? I am also your guy. I am high role play and combat light when it comes down to it, with a love of everything fantasy and sci-fi. If needed I can set up a Roll20 for combat and battlemaps, but will mix that up with a lot of theatre of the mind combat. I love music, D&D feels weird to me without it, so I have some ambient software that I use for that!

Homebrew rules

Coordinated Attacks ~ “Happy Feet! Wombo Combo!” When you hold your action to attack an enemy at the same time as an ally, the crit rate for your attacks increases by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus. Furthermore, you will do additional damage equal to your combined player level. For example at lvl 3, the crit range for your coordinated attacks will go from 20 to 18-20 and both of your attacks will deal an additional 6 damage for that turn. Additionally, if you come up with a name for the unique combo, you shall be rewarded with inspiration. Crit Rules As opposed to simply doubling your dice or just doubling your damage. Instead, you take the maximum value of your first dice, then you roll your additional die and multiply that value by 2. Once you’ve added those two numbers together, you get your crit damage. For example, Critting with a greataxe and dealing maximum damage would mean an initial value of 12 from your D12 + 24 + your modifier. So an individual with a 20 strength could potentially deal a total of 41 on a critical hit. Glancing Blows When an attack roll meets but doesn’t exceed a target’s armour class, it is treated as what we’ll be calling a “glancing blow”. This is a way to encapsulate mechanically, the close knit scrape of barely finding purchase on a foe, effectively only just managing to knick through an opponents skin, hide, armour or just barely breaking their guard. So, when a creature is hit with a glancing blow they are considered resistant to the damage. For example, if you have an armour class of 17 and an enemy’s attack roll matches that, the damage you take from that attack is halved. Potions & Healer’s Kits Potions, can be downed with either a full action or a bonus action. You may ask, what’s the difference? Well, downing a potion with a bonus action means you have to roll for the hp you receive, whereas taking your full action grants you the benefits of restoring the full hp you would get from the potion without rolling. Additionally, you can throw a potion vial at an ally within a range of 30/60 ft. On a hit the vial shatters and you may roll half of the dice they would typically receive for that potion. Simply make a ranged attack using either Strength or Dexterity and hit their AC to get it to them. Lastly, when using a healers kit on an unconscious ally, instead of simply stabilising them you can use your action to make them expend an amount of hit die equal to or less than their character’s level and recover that much hp.
