About the adventure
A vast metropolis of 24 million kine. The locals call the place, "The Defect." The largest unplanned supercity. The city once who hosted a war god. Maybe they summoned the Sabbat and that's why they thrived here for centuries. And now that they are gone, the city is available for the taking. Or is it a clever trap awaiting foolish kindred who wish to make one of the night's scariest towns their own? Mexico City, former bastion of the Sabbat, quickly claimed by a Ventrue Neonate with a lot of backing. What followed was a churning sea of new kindred, both Camarilla and Anarch, vying to find their new stake in the night. A few years have passed, and now the dust has settled and what has come to pass is a city rife with history, revolution, and tradition, filled with new kindred from all walks of life and origin. Real quick before I get into the setting: I've never been to Mexico City before, but I read one non-fiction book about real-world spiritual warfare among dream-questing spirit-animal riding necromantic shamans and witches and then I had tell a story set close to it. Mexico City is a setting made for V5. It doesn't have ancient elders pulling strings everywhere... But it is chock full of young vampires overreaching to steer a machine so large they can't comprehend. It also has odd things of old that go bump in the night. The city herself, is a marvel. What once was the head of a great civilization, and one of the largest cities in the western world with a history so rich I can't begin to explain. They've had it all... A grand civilization, an invasion, an oppression, a rebellion, and the years they faced for that decision. I invite you to look into a few videos into the city and how it is run. I also have several setting places on my Mexico City By Night page. My imagination on how the game progresses: Group directed beats, improvised outcomes. I imagine that we will form our scenes, not randomly... but with each scene starting with a strong idea of where we are heading with the scene. We should build our scenes together, and then let them float, sink, fly, or crash.

About me
Hello, I'm Manny or Mannimal DM, and I want to ask, "Would you like to play a game?" Cheeky, I know... but really... I'm a gamester, not just someone who loves playing games, one who loves to solve puzzles, marvel at illusions, but I enjoy also trying my hand at making all of them. I've been playing and running games for too long to count. I enjoy telling a fun narrative campaign that makes players think, draws out character's motivations, and also provides suspense, with opportunities for fun and humor and a little buttkicking, just to be sure. I just finished a campaign for friends recently, and that sense of enjoyment rivals no other. I tend to run games that are close to a setting, so that the theme is present, but I love to have characters rise to become influential in the worlds in which they walk. I always strive to work with players to build connected backgrounds that are involved with the story and that bring the party together when creating the foundation for the stories we unfold. I have a background in storytelling and composition, years of experience as a teacher, and I recently ran a fantasy game center that was a hub for inclusive-minded gaming for all. I'm interested in not only telling great stories with seasoned veterans, but also helping new players find their way into role-playing games. Try out one of my one shot adventures, or ask me about starting up a D&D campaign set in Badlur's Gate, or the Feywild, or a city in Vampire: the Masquerade. See you at the table! -Manny, Mannimal DM

Creating your character
I would like to see this coterie's characters built together. Your first assignment, if you want to play in this game, is to consider three different character CONCEPTS you would like to consider playing. I'll open a channel on discord where you can come up with these ideas and share them with the other players as we come along. On the Session 0, we will share our concepts, I may pitch an idea if someone's not sure, as we will work together to choose which of these characters we would like to flesh out, and then we will run with them. I will also take any of those character concepts that you've suggested, and perhaps weave them into the story somehow - if so inspired. I would like the players to come to a consensus of their coterie's relationship to any factions while working together on these notes. While I've made so many characters in a silo, that I *then* brought into a game. I've learned that the best games consist of characters that were formed together in a session 0 environment. In games that have a session 0, without concrete characters, a few things rise to the surface: Dynamics are formed; the game forms around the fleshed-out nuances of character, rather than random in-person jokes; gaps are noticed; and the "sense" of reality of multiple vampires forming a coterie morphing into a real vibrant "vampycule." Also: You don't need to know a lot of v:tm lore to get into this game, but after watching my partner discover vampire and then consume all sorts of information about every little bloodline online, I'm sure that if you're into playing this game, you've had a bit of a dive into the lore yourself. And if not, you don't have to. All "meta" lore from backgrounds, spreadsheets, and what not about the game will be talked about off table to make sure players know what their characters are into. If a character makes an assumption about the setting, and it does not apply to my game, I will correct the statement so that the character will know what they are saying, and briefly explain what's happening, but for the most part: The story is all about the dynamics of the characters, and their goals an the obstacles in their way. I will also provide links to any source material that I personally own and will share in my google drives and linked to my story's website. So, if you wanna play, dream up three newcomer vampire concepts to Mexico City. Then message me and I'll put you on the discord if you're down to play.
I would like to have a true session zero, where we come up with vampire details as well as faction choice all together. Chat with me about the setting, read the world anvil page's articles that seem interesting... and then bring some ideas and concepts, but I ask that you keep open mind about possiblities to play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have accounts on Roll20, Discord, as well as an account on my World Anvil website that features this game. A link will be provided. I'm not sold on excactly what type of way to keep our character sheets just yet.
What Manny Gwen brings to the table
Hi there, I'm Manny and I want to tell a vampire story set in Mexico City. I've never been to the city, and my Spanish is laughably sub=elementary, but hear me out: Mexico city might be the perfect setting for V5, all of the planted elders are gone - vampires suck, so they love a good power vacuum.
Homebrew rules
I have played a game where we randomize the hunger dice at the beginning of every session. And a 1 point slake is generally easy, it is getting to tame two or three, four or five points that is difficult.

How Manny Gwen creates a safe table
First off, I keep an open line at all times. If you want to chat about something in game, I'll respond quite soon. I usually plot an hour of downtime after every game where I do nothing but chat and reflect on the game I just played. If I need to take notes, I try to jot things down here, but really, I keep this time for any type of aftercare that may be needed after a game. Not that I feel every game needs "aftercare," a little bit of comraderie after a game does help chill things down. All x,n, and o's will be put into a open discord that will refreshed at all times and will be physically present on camera to all when it is seen by anyone in the game. We will address the situation at hand as needed and then move from there, and decisions will be open for discussion once the scene is closed with a "how do you scene this scene resolving?" Content Warnings: There will be a discussion on this. Vampire has lots of lines and veils..
