About the adventure

In a sprawling high-magic archipelago where every island boasts its own unique biome, culture, and magi-tech evolution, the fate of the world is decided by mercenary guilds. Hundreds of these factions compete for influence, coin, and glory, often finding themselves on opposite sides of bloody conflicts contracted by rival nations. You are the newest recruits of the Foxhole Guild. Once the most esteemed crew in the realm, prolonged peace has left Foxhole a scrappy underdog, and its legendary leader, Vorpal, a lazy, carousing drunk. But the world is shifting, and the glory days are about to make a chaotic, necessary comeback. This campaign is a high-energy love letter to classic shonen anime like One Piece and Fairy Tail, blended seamlessly with the visceral stakes of dark fantasy. One session you will be running security at a wedding, and the next traversing the hells for to slay a Greater demon. It's a perfect blend of RP, rule-of-cool, and tactical combat. Who is this game for? This adventure is built for players who love deep character camaraderie, high-stakes action, and a table that doesn't take itself too seriously—until the claws come out. If you enjoy creating a tight-knit "found family" of chaotic misfits, and using the environment to pull off absurd, cinematic stunts, you will feel right at home. We play strictly by the D&D 5.5e (2024) ruleset, leaning heavily into the Heroic Inspiration system to reward creative, bombastic player choices. If you are ready to brave unpredictable biomes, survive brutal contracts, and restore the Foxhole Guild to its former glory, step onto the transport boat. Your orientation and adventure is waiting.

About me

Hey, I’m Mike, though most people at the table know me as Muffin. I’ve spent the last 12 years behind the screen running 5e and Pathfinder campaigns, building worlds, telling stories, and creating moments players actually remember. Tabletop gaming isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s something I genuinely care about, especially when it comes to crafting experiences that feel immersive, fun, and meaningful. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the game, you’re welcome at my table. All backgrounds, all identities, no exceptions. If you’re here to roll dice, tell a story, and have a good time, you’ll fit right in.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Stats & Level Starting Level: We are starting at Level 3. This means your subclass is active from Day One, and your character has already earned a bit of professional mercenary experience. Stat Generation Choice: You may choose to use Standard Array, Point Buy, or Roll Stats. The Golden Rule of Rolling: If you choose to roll, you MUST use the outcome. There is no rolling and then opting for Point Buy if you don't like your scores. What the dice decide, you keep! Rolling Mechanics: All rolls must be witnessed in Roll20. The rolling formula is standard: roll $4\text{d}6$, drop the lowest die. Starting Equipment: We are using standard 5.5e character creation wealth. You can take the starting equipment provided by your chosen Class and Background, or take the starting gold equivalent to buy your own gear. Permitted Content Allowed Content: Any official, published D&D 5e or 5.5e (2024) race, class, background, and subclass is permitted. No Homebrew: To keep the mechanical baseline solid and balanced, strictly no homebrew classes, subclasses, or species.
