About the adventure

You were made for this, perhaps even literally. Whatever abilities you have developed in your life, they seem to be well adapted with some of the diversity of possibilities involving deep space exploration. You have been trained and groomed for just this sort of circumstance! Who knows what you may find out there? We have lost touch with one of our teams for too long. Your assignment is to find any survivors, reestablish contact and secure any data that they have compiled for us. This is your priority assignment. Remember to be safe out there, I don't want to see any more teams go missing! Here is your fully armed Starship, code-named the "Nautilus". She is still in her prototype phases, but we feel certain that this group can handle it. I will expect a full, detailed review of her performance and idiosyncrasies upon your return. All players, new and experienced are welcome to join us in this investigative exploration beyond the Horizon and into the deep Umbral realms. This will be an Enlightened journey like you've only ever imagined, dreamed about!

About me

Welcome, if there is a better time which you have available to get something started, please let me know, I am widely for now! Working to become a full-time storyteller this year has been a wonderfully rewarding challenge so far. I feel privileged to be able to grow and learn with my players through each story we weave together! I hope to have the opportunity to create some stories with you as well. Ready to play some games? Let's make some characters, roll some dice and have some fun! As somewhat of a philosopher, I believe that on a deeper level part of our characters and other things we create may be as reflections of ourselves in many ways. The fantasies that we create can embrace a lot about who we are in real life. They can represent some of the many things we desire to accomplish, learn or experience. The fights we want to win and the values we wish to cherish or reject. A roleplaying game gives us the opportunity to do so safely in a comfortable, relaxed space which can enable such fantasies! My intention is to enable a sacred, safe place for our imaginations to roam freely, where each of us can play off and with each other in harmony. Where we can grow and make friends. Make and receive our offers. I first fell in love with tabletop roleplaying games one Christmas back when I was almost eight years old. My neighbors had received the Basic Box Set for D&D and asked my older brother and I to play with them. I was instantly obsessed and we played for the rest of our vacation together! I had already begun designing worlds and maps and swiftly fell into the role of rotating game masters. We gathered as many interested friends as we could find and pull all-nighters just playing. We explored a lot of different systems before I ever worked my way through college. I had a bit of hiatus during the twenty-teens and came back, now online, around New Years Eve in '22.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will have a session 0 together as a group and build our characters so as to fit our desires and be somewhat complementary of the others. We'll preferably be starting as Enlightened members of (former Mage antagonists-) the Technocratic Union. They will be our sponsors for this mission and starship.

The current party

We will either be associated with the Technocratic Union, or come up with a great reason together that ties your character in, otherwise. This will be a fun story, and we will begin with a hundred bonus experience.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Roll20 for sheets and dice rolling and Discord for voice. All you will need is a free account for each.

What Craigles brings to the table

I enjoy doing a variety of voices and some accents in my characterizations. I tend to prioritize rules as written primarily, as it is the basis of our understanding of any game system. I will still have lapses for rule of cool occasionally, especially if it fits into our storyline in an inclusive way!

Homebrew rules

Mage 20th Anniversary edition is chock full of optional rules. If there's any you'd like to see included, talk to me, before or after the session. If it makes sense, and all are onboard, we will most likely begin to implement it.

How Craigles creates a safe table

We will have a detailed discussion of our safety tools during session 0. Each session there will be an approximately ten-minute biology break near the middle of our time allotment.
