About the adventure

Omni-Man has abandoned Earth. The original Guardians of the Globe are dead. The world just watched its two most powerful heroes tear a city apart, and in the wreckage, someone has to step up. That's where you come in. In this standalone one-shot of Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying (the official tabletop RPG from Free League and Skybound, based on Robert Kirkman's comic), you play one of the new heroes the Global Defense Agency is calling up to fill the void. Director Cecil Stedman has a job that can't wait: the hyper-intelligent Mauler Twins have broken out of Stronghold Penitentiary, and they've been building something in an abandoned warehouse for the crime lord Machine Head. Across three fast-moving acts you'll raid the Maulers' clone lab, storm Machine Head's fortified tower, and, when the villain's "field test" goes live, throw down with rampaging kaiju in the middle of downtown while civilians run for cover. Metro Mayhem captures everything that makes Invincible great: brutal high-stakes brawls, morally gray choices, snappy banter, and the constant tension of heroes who can bleed. The system is quick and cinematic. You build a dice pool of custom d6s from your hero's attributes and powers, and every roll pushes the story forward. No math homework, no long stat blocks. If you can describe what your hero does, you can play. You'll pick from five ready-to-play heroes (Robot, Monster Girl, Rex Splode, Atom Eve, and Bulletproof), so there's nothing to prep and zero rules knowledge required before you sit down. Total newcomers to TTRPGs are genuinely welcome, and veterans will find plenty of tactical bite in the combat. A heads-up on tone: Invincible is famous for going hard. This table plays it comic-accurate, which means graphic violence and mature themes. We use safety tools and start every game with a quick comfort check so everyone's on the same page before the first punch lands. If you love superhero stories with real weight and consequences, this one's for you.

About me

I’m a storyteller at heart and a worldbuilder by trade — literally! I’m a published freelance writer for Pathfinder, and I bring that same creative energy into every game I run. Whether I’m expanding on a published setting or crafting a universe from scratch, I love giving players a world that feels alive, textured, and ready to explore. My tables lean narrative-first, with a focus on character, story, and meaningful choices — but don’t worry, I can run a crunchy, tactical combat with the best of them when the system calls for it (and I actually enjoy it!). I run regular campaigns both in-person and online, and I love welcoming new players and helping them find their groove, whether it’s their first session or their hundredth. I’m a system polyglot with a passion for variety. Right now, I’m deep into Traveller, Forged in the Dark games, Spire, Call of Cthulhu, and Delta Green, but I’ve got deep roots in old-school D&D and both Pathfinder 1e and 2e. If you’re looking for a GM who’s excited to tell great stories, teach the game, and help your character shine, you’ve found your seat at the table. Let’s play.

Character creation

Creating your character

There's no character creation for this one-shot. Everything's ready to go. At the start of the session you'll each pick one of five pre-generated heroes: Robot (leader and hyper-smart tactician), Monster Girl (bruiser who transforms into a troll-like monster), Rex Splode (brash wildcard who charges objects with explosive energy), Atom Eve (matter-manipulating controller), or Bulletproof (flying powerhouse who absorbs kinetic energy). I'll walk you through your hero's sheet, powers, and role before we start, so you don't need to read anything in advance. If we have fewer than five players, the unclaimed heroes stay in reserve, which is handy if things go sideways and you need a fresh hero to jump into the fight.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

How to prepare, quick checklist: - A Discord account (voice and text). I'll send an invite link to the table's server. - A Foundry VTT account. I'll send a direct link to the game, and you don't need a paid subscription of your own to join. - A working microphone and a stable internet connection. Show up curious. Seriously, that's the whole prep. No rulebooks, no character building, nothing to buy or download beyond the above. I'll handle maps, tokens, dice, and character sheets on the virtual tabletop. If you're brand new to TTRPGs, arrive 5 to 10 minutes early and I'll get you comfortable before we roll.

What Michael brings to the table

I bring a fast, cinematic table that leans into the feel of the comic. Expect punchy pacing, vivid narration of the action, and villains with real personality (the Mauler Twins will not shut up, and that's a feature). Combat is tactical but never bogged down. I keep initiative moving, describe hits like comic panels, and reward creative use of the environment (yes, you can throw the car). I embrace Rule of Cool for cinematic moments while keeping the core rules honest so your choices matter. Between fights, the social scenes are your space to breathe, banter, and define who your hero is, and I'll give you the spotlight rather than rush past it. Newer players get gentle coaching in the moment, and experienced players get a table that hits hard and keeps its foot on the gas.

Homebrew rules

None. This runs on the official Invincible Starter Set rules as written. If a rules edge-case comes up mid-game, I'll make a fair, fast call and we keep playing.

Safety

How Michael creates a safe table

Everyone's comfort comes first, always. Because Invincible leans into graphic, mature material, we open every game with a short comfort conversation to set expectations and agree on lines and veils (hard "no" topics and things we keep off-screen). During play I use X, N, and O cards so anyone can dial a scene's intensity up, down, or pause it instantly, no explanation owed and no questions asked. The Open Door rule is always in effect: step away or leave at any time, and there's zero penalty. We take breaks between acts, and I check in and debrief at the end so nobody leaves carrying the heavy stuff. This is a game, and the goal is for everyone to have a blast and feel safe doing it.
