About the adventure

The cataclysm is ancient history—barely a footnote, a ghost story parents tell children. The world has rebuilt; cities thrive, trade routes hum, and the Adventurers' Guild has offices in every corner of civilization. But the true knowledge of what came before is hoarded by the Mages' Guild, locked away in vaults, buried in forbidden texts, guarded by oaths that kill those who break them. You are nobodies—rookie adventurers seeking coin, purpose, or escape—but the road ahead will pull you deeper than any contract. The world is a patchwork of powers locked in a fragile stalemate. The North—tribal, honor-bound, surviving endless cold through bloody rite. Gurkhl—desert fanatics waging holy war under their prophet Khalul, slavers and zealots. The Union—capitalist heart of the world, merchants with their fingers in every purse. The Old Empire—crumbling yet deluded, still believing themselves chosen, their abandoned lands now haunted by the "ghost" tribes of the Far Country. Styria—city-states in perpetual war for profit. Suljuk—simple herders and fierce pirates. And beyond all, Thond—source of all magical creatures, sealed to any who enter. But beneath the squabbling nations, something ancient stirs. An invisible hand pulls the strings—beings who have guided, manipulated, and shaped civilizations since before recorded history. Their presence is a whisper, a rumour, a coincidence too many. The wars, the borders, the faiths—all curated. Why they move now, no one knows. But the pieces are shifting. This is a world of layered secrets. The Mages' Guild doesn't just hoard knowledge—they bury it. Histories have been rewritten. Gods may be masks. The ruins you explore aren't ancient—they're concealed. Every artifact recovered, every inscription deciphered, every ghost laid to rest brings you closer to a truth that someone has spent millennia hiding. The question isn't just what happened—it's who decided we should forget. This is a roleplay-heavy game where choices echo. Combat is rare, dangerous, and avoidable. Your growth is the story—from gutter rats to players on an eons-old chessboard. The world doesn't care if you live or die. But the secrets you uncover, the forbidden knowledge you reclaim—that might just change everything.

About me

I’ve been a GM for 13 years, running everything from fantasy like The Witcher to the grim dark future of Warhammer 40k. I’ve ran many systems, but my heart lives in worlds that don’t care if you live or die. My games are not for the faint of heart—expect bleak choices, rare but brutal combat, and a focus on social encounters. I will never just throw you into the dark. In and out of game, I’ll help you build your character, navigate the world, and find your place in it so you can push your limits without breaking. You will be challenged. You will not be abandoned.

Character creation

Creating your character

On session 0 we will decide the exact lvl you will start at (1-3), we will decide how you roll stats (or point-buy), Where the game will take place as there are many continent and stories to be told in them. I will assist you during character creation so your character can fit in to the world (i like to make your characters be integral to the plot in one way or another). The only limitation i put forward is that certain races come from certain continents and any draconian races will require my approval and some concession on both sides (mechanics are untouched)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will play on roll20 so an account for that is necessary, we will communicate via google meets (cameras are appreciated but not necessary) and we will use Watch2Gather for music and ambiance

What Cray brings to the table

I provide a living, breathing world that reacts to your choices—not a railroad with painted scenery. Your backstories aren't decorative; they are the foundation. Lost family, old debts, forgotten oaths, buried trauma—I will weave them into the narrative. The villain you face may know your name. The ruined temple you explore may hold answers about your past. The world will remember who you are and what you've done. I provide a game where combat is rare but meaningful. When blades are drawn. The enemies are heartless they fight smart, they exploit weaknesses, they do not pull punches. But I am always on your side. I will help you understand the rules, offer tactical advice when asked, sometimes bend the rules in your favour, and ensure you have the information needed to make informed choices. I want you to win—but I want you to earn it. I provide safety and structure. Pre-session check-ins, open communication, and tools to ensure everyone feels secure. No topic is off the table for discussion. I provide space for quiet moments. Campfire scenes. Shared meals. Conversations that have no mechanical benefit but make the story matter. I provide a world that doesn't care if you live or die—and a GM who does.

Homebrew rules

I don't have many hard homebrew rules and all of those i use we always have to all agree to them. The caveat being if you can do it so can the enemies, so if you the barbarian wants to carry the parties gnome wizard in the backpack to let the wizard fire magic missiles in safety, we all agree to it but don't be surprised if the enemies get their own "pocket archers" soon enough.

Safety

How Cray creates a safe table

On session 0 we will talk about topics we would rather avoid or things that should not be mentioned or even hinted at under no circumstance. Outside of that at the end of every session i take feedback on what went well and what didn't land as well as it could have. My DMs are always open if anyone is uncomfortable with what is happening right now and i do not mind taking a break and moving on from the scene.
