About the adventure
Willowshore is an insular village in the heart of Tian Xia's Spectre Wood, which has become known in its short but varied history as a place of pilgrimage, a self-sustaining farming community, an Imperial logging hub and now... almost an afterthought as civil war, they say, ranges in other parts of Lung wha. Everyone welcome, but my preference is to run an immersive and grittier game with dark humour and less of a silly lighthearted forest romp. So no more than one plant/animal creature in the party and humans and common races are preferred. We'll make characters as a group during a free session 0 and can talk about the particulars then.

About me
Greetings fellow gamers, I'm been on StartPlaying less than year, but have been running games for more than 25 years, mostly d20 fantasy. For the last 15 years, I’ve mainly run Pathfinder 1e Adventure Paths for a stable of 20 regular players. I run a mix of monthly and weekly games, as well as limited-run games. Through the support of a kind and dedicated community, I was able to make this a small business during COVID, when I left my career in journalism. I currently run a variety of ongoing games including Pathfinder (1e and 2e), Delta Green, and Call of Cthulhu, and have just kicked off a World of Darkness game (Werewolf). I have run Blades in the Dark, Runequest and Traveller before and would like to play more of these games if interest exists. For the past four years I've supplemented my business with a 5e kids program (Summer camps and afterschool), but no longer have a venue for this. I'm currently looking for adult players for ongoing campaigns, and may post the occasional one-off. I'm always open to discuss taking on a group of people looking for a new narrator. I'm a flexible and responsive GM, adapting to different styles and tones of play as needed. I love when story is king and lean toward narrative over mechanics. I try to be a benevolent GM and say yes to players whenever possible. I want to challenge my players, without punishing them.

Creating your character
We'll make characters on Foundry VTT as part of our Session 0. Please come with 2 or 3 ideas if possible so a group can cover a lot of the core skills and general roles. Get in touch for more information. You can also find a free players guide at Paizo.com to help you get a better feeling for the story and the types of characters that may work best: https://downloads.paizo.com/SeasonofGhosts_PlayersGuide.pdf
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Take a look at the player's guide mentioned above. I'll provide Foundry and Zoom links once we are about ready to begin the game. Questions always welcome!
What Dave B brings to the table
I hope to provide a memorable, immersive game, with lots of horror flavour, but lots of laughs too. I let my players et the pace. I also provide more than three decades of experience as a GM, and I currently play with more than 30 regular players on this site and in my home games.
Homebrew rules
As R.A.W. as possible, but with rewards for good behaviour. Hero points will carry over from game to game, but will have to be earned beyond the first freebie. So no free hero point at the beginning of each session.
