About the adventure

"Your coterie has built an existence on the water, refurbishing an old luxury yacht into a floating nightclub that doubles as a smuggling operation. It's easy money, and the takeout delivers itself, eager to dance through the night. But when an enemy coterie wants your ship for themselves, you'll have to defend it." Using the one-shot "Wine-Dark Waters" from Renegade Studios, this is a learn-to-play one shot using pre-generated characters and adapted to introduce even brand new players to the lore of Vampire the Masquerade and the basics of gameplay. Choose from one of 6 young vampires as you and your fellow found family (coterie) defend your home from intruders while ensuring that the secret of your undead nature is kept out of mortal gaze.

About me

My name's Erin, also known as Travel Nerd Erin. I'm a nurse educator by trade who also has a deep love for storytelling. I've been a GM/storyteller for over 15 years. My deep loves are gothic horror and Asian folklore inspired stories. I've had the opportunity to DM stories of my own making at events like Gen Con and D3 at Sea, and it is an honor to have such a variety of opportunities to facilitate weaving incredible stories with people from all over the world. While D&D tends to be my primary focus as a GM, I also love other systems! I'm particularly interested in Through the Breach, Vampire the Masquerade, and a number of Powered by the Apocalypse games. Exploring diverse settings and systems is a love of mine, and I love to introduce folks to new options in gaming.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-generated characters will be provided: choose from one of 6 characters after signing up! If you are familiar with the game and feel comfortable making a character, you may choose to do so. Characters will be 12th or 13th generation Childers with no additional XP.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

After signing up, you'll be sent a discord link where you'll be added to a channel with a few references and resources. You do NOT need to read anything in advance - I'll teach you as you go! The resources are simply there if you'd like to take a look at anything ahead of time. All you'll need is: -A discord account (we'll play via discord voice chat in a private voice channel) -A way to roll dice: I'll provide a link to an online dice roller but if you would like physical dice, you can either get the official Vampire the Masquerade dice OR use a pool of d10s (you'll need to be able to distinguish between two different kinds - I recommend having about 8-10 of one color or style and 4 dice of a second color/style) -A willingness to learn to play! I'll provide everything else you need.

What Erin (aka TravelNerding) brings to the table

I will provide online resources, including a basic rules reference info graphic and digital ability cards for player reference. As a learn-to-play game, I'll guide you through everything, including how to build your dice pools for skill checks, how your character abilities work, and explanations of common terms as they come up in game to help new players learn some of the world lore. There will be optional background music that you can opt in to listen to for the ambience.

Safety

How Erin (aka TravelNerding) creates a safe table

Vampire the Masquerade is a game of personal horror and contains mature themes such as descriptions of drinking blood, manipulation, and violence (including gun violence). A lines and veils sheet will be provided and reviewed (anonymously) to ensure comfort for the entire table during a "Session Zero" conversation at the start of the scheduled game time. The "X card" will be in use via several options during the game to address anything that comes up (this will be discussed as well at the start of the game to ensure all players know how to utilize and respond to an X card in case of triggering content during gameplay).
