About the adventure

For centuries the Devil-Kings have plagued these lands from their bastions of their unholy cities, playing empires against one another so that they might be left alone to carry out their ritualized atrocities in their bargains with myriad powers of incomprehensible horror. However, the rise of the unified Umayyad Caliphate backed by the zealous new faith of Islam and the vampires of the Ashirra seeking redemption from their damned state by waging war against the forces of hell, finally threatens the reign of the dark magi. Whether you succeed in daring adventures, forge strange alliances, succumb to Faustian bargains, or die a martyr, your tale shall be woven into the fall of the Devil-Kings, who will summon up ever greater and more terrible forces as they sense their doom approaching.

About me

With 20 years of GMing experience, I run player character-driven games where PC decisions can determine the entire course of campaigns--with ripple effects that sometimes even I can't anticipate (which is when I get most excited.) I specialize in historical games, with deep research into the era and an eye for accuracy. I don't run games on rails. I create settings interwoven with PC backstories and populated by NPC's who each have their own nuanced motivations, perspectives, limited information, and schemes, which are all dynamically influenced by the actions of both the PC's and each other, which can make things delightfully unpredictable as EVERYONE is forced to improvise. I especially love intrigue, horror, and involved roleplaying, but also snappy dialogue, the nitty gritty of tactical maneuvering, and character creation. LGBT+ Friendly I do not use AI.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be primarily done during session 0, finalizing the sheets before session 1. All of the major clans are available (except the Tremere, who won't exist for a few more centuries.) I'll consider rarer bloodlines on a case by case basis.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a Discord account, microphone, and webcam.

What Shepherd brings to the table

Players will have access to all relevant setting resources, as well as historical documentaries and texts to help get into the setting.

Safety

How Shepherd creates a safe table

We will establish lines and veils together during session 0. Each session has 2 breaks of 5 minutes so that people can decompress. Players can log out at any time if they need to do so. That said, it is the World of Darkness and the norms of the 8th century are not our own, so one has to expect a certain degree of grimness.
