About the adventure
Monsters of Barovia is an unofficial sequel to D&D's famed campaign, 'Curse of Strahd', using the Apocalypse System. Play as monsters working with the shadowy, multidimensional Division, who explore the Domains of Dread to find the keys to avert the Apocalypse. As monsters, you will wrestle with your humanity, harbouring the dark secret that if you lean in too much to your dark side, it won't be some mysterious eldritch force bringing the world to its knees. It will be you. Apocalypse Keys is a PBTA game, a 2d6 system that focuses on narrative and inner turmoil. It is also a mystery solving game - each session will see players gather up clues, investigate leads, and question suspects, all in an attempt to find out how the world is threatened with destruction. Every moment and every decision ticks down to disaster - unless you manage to put the clues together, and keep the door to the Apocalypse closed...for now. This campaign is beginner friendly, rules and character creation will be explained in Session Zero. A copy of the rules for players will also be provided for those who've signed up for the campaign.

About me
I believe TTRPGs should be available to all, and that complicated rules shouldn't bar entry for a cool and fascinating new game - I am to make things as easy as possible for new and old players alike. The table should be a fun, comfortable and engaging place for EVERYONE involved - which is why I also do not compromise on safety tools. I like discovering new ways to use a system, homebrewing if necessary, or using the rules as given in new ways to make sure even experienced players in a system have something new to grapple with. I'm also a big fan of misdirection...so don't believe everything you see. It's a poor storyteller that you can trust entirely.

Creating your character
Character Creation will be done with the group, as part of Session Zero. Playbook descriptions will be provided, along with a series of tokens for images you feel will suit your character best, using artwork created specially for the game. Bonds between characters will also be decided during the session.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to make a free Roll20 account, as well as join the Tailwind Tavern Discord server. Links will be provided to both once you've joined the campaign.
What Armaan brings to the table
The campaign will use modules and artwork from the Apocalypse Keys system, in addition to maps from the 'Curse of Strahd' campaign. Players will explore new Domains of Dread in addition to Barovia as the campaign continues, using maps, tokens, art and guidance from the 'Ravenloft: The Horros Within' art packs.

How Armaan creates a safe table
As this is a horror game, we will be using a checklist to determine what is to be excluded outright from the game, and what can be included but described vaguely. A Palatte Grid will also be established to determine what kinds of things players are more interested in exploring through the game. Each session will end with a short, ten-minute discussion of what happened, players' favourite moments, wishes for future sessions, and any modifications to the story or GMing style that may make players more comfortable. Lastly, the X-Card is always in play: any moment or description that makes a player uncomfortable enough to want to veto may be vetoed the moment is happened, and we can discuss what happens instead.
