About the adventure

The characters are in the city of Neverwinter when their dwarf patron and friend, Gundren Rockseeker, hires them to escort a wagon to Phandalin. Gundren has gone ahead with a warrior, Sildar Hallwinter, to attend to business in the town while the characters follow with the supplies. The characters will be paid 10 gp each by the owner of Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin when they deliver the wagon safely to that trading post.

Character creation

Creating your character

Create your character on D&D Beyond (XP-based and make sure to set it to "public"). We'll download it into an online token in FoundryVTT. Your character portrait will become your token. The game is open to any character class/species, just make sure it's "D&D" legal.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Welcome to the campaign! You'll need a desktop/laptop computer (This doesn't work on a phone or tablet). We're playing on FoundryVTT (it's the best). You'll need Discord to talk with us (headset recommended). Our channel is BattlegroundsVTT#3291. A link will also be provided when you sign-up for one of the sessions. You'll need a D&D Beyond account to create your characters. (free) You'll need a player account (free) on forge-vtt.com Looking forward to seeing you online!

What BATTLEGROUNDS brings to the table

We play on FoundryVTT (it's the best). Great looking maps, cool looking character tokens and, occasionally, awesome music. On my table, we utilize the Rule of Cool. If you want to do/try something that you think will make the game "awesomer" (and it doesn't ridiculously break the rules) I say we try it and see what happens!

Homebrew rules

Drinking a Healing Potion as a Bonus Action = you roll for healing. Drinking a Healing Potion as an Action = Full Healing. Giving an unconcious party member a healing potion = your action / roll for healing. If you are reduced to zero hit points, but are revived, you return with one level of exhaustion. We utilize other house-rules, as needed, to make the gameplay fair and make sense.

Safety

How BATTLEGROUNDS creates a safe table

We're all adults, and I expect we'll treat each other like adults. My philosophy is that this is a game, and it's supposed to be fun. Have fun playing your character, but, also allow others to play theirs. Giving other advice is appreciated, but backseat driving, is not. That being said, if you are new to D&D, don't be nervous about joining us at the table. We will help you learn your character abilities and how to use them in Foundry. We want this to be a fun experience for you. We will try to take a quick five-minute break every hour or so, depending on game pacing, to give everyone a chance to get up, get a drink of water, use the bathroom, etc.
