About the adventure
Welcome, come learn to play in a very newbie player friendly game of ShadowDark. Shadowdark is a rules light d20 system that is easy to learn yet still robust enough for veteran players. If you've played any version of D&D, many of the mechanics used will be familiar. As a GM, I do not run railroads and like to let the characters dictate where they go and what they do. This is a Shadowdark OSR sandbox campaign using the Western reaches by The Arcane Library as the setting. For character creation, we will be using the Shadowdark rulebook, all of the published Cursed Scrolls supplements (Cursed Scrolls 1-6) and the Western Reaches Players Guide that was just released. I have all the materials to run and play the game. My games tend to be a bit more realistic and darker than your typical 5E game and will include some mature elements. We will use Discord for voice communication. Once we have our players we will all decide which region of the Western Reaches you would all like to explore. I will provide the player driven adventures in a complex and immersive sandbox. I have been playing and running games for over 45 years. I am very experienced running Shadowdark and running games on Roll20.

About me
Hey all, my name is Dean but I typically go by Technobable online. I am new to the Startplaying site but not to running games online. I started playing tabletop RPG’s in the early 80’s when I was 10, became a GM by 14 out of necessity and have been GM’ing ever since. I have played and GM’ed many systems over the years and enjoy learning new systems as they come out. I typically put a lot of time and effort into my games with a good mix of cultivated story, improv and spontaneity thrown in. I dislike railroads so I tend to give my players a large amount of agency on where they go and what they do. All I ask is that your characters to be team players to some extent so the game flows well and we don’t have problematic players trying to steal the energy from the game. I typically do not have that issue as I tend to remove those trouble players earlier than later for the enjoyment of the rest of the group.
