About the adventure

You are a group of some of the last survivors in the Marvel Zombie Universe. Many of the heroes and 99% of the Universe’s population has been bitten, but you’ve been smart and lucky. Some of you may have been Avengers for awhile, some newly inducted as you’ve proved your resilience. Together, you’ve assembled to better the fate of the universe-whether by cure or escape. This game is a dark, sometimes scary, comedy, in the realm of the Marvel Zombies show/comics. You can play as either an established character (hero or villain!) from the sheets in the books or build your own. As this is a different universe, you can even build your own version of an established character, like a Cap with magical powers! Whether new to Marvel Multiverse or a long-time player, you’re welcome to play with open arms…just try to not get bit. If anyone else is interested and has Marvel Unlimited or copies of the books, I'd be down to have a Marvel Zombies comic book reading club as well!

About me

Hi! My name is Brooke, and I’m passionate about role playing and storytelling. I’ve been involved in TTRPGs for 5 years and GMing for 4 years. I’m most acquainted with Cyberpunk RED (both in the core 2045 and 2077 setting with the Edgerunners Mission Kit). I’ve GMed over 100 Cyberpunk RED games, whether they be in a campaign, living community, or one-shot format. I’ve also played hundreds of Cyberpunk Red games. In addition, I’ve run games of Cy_borg, CBR + PNK, Marvel Multiverse, Shadowrun 2nd Edition, and Cyberpunk 2020. I also have experience playing MASKS and Fallout 2d20. I enjoy trying new systems, so if anyone wants to play anything from Vampire the Masquerade to Brindlewood Bay, I’m down. I can run DnD if need be, but my hope is to give other games the spotlight they deserve. What brings me to RPGs, and to GMing, is my love of acting. I enjoy role playing and creating a world and stories where people can deeply inhabit their characters around fun, life-like NPCs. What’s most important to me is my players feel comfortable and have fun, and as a femme member of the LGBTQIA+ community, that especially means welcoming those who may have felt excluded from the ttrpg community in the past. For the under 18s, I have experience working with young people from ages 7-18 in school, camp, and homeless youth shelter settings. If you are a parent of an under 18 and would like to do a video call, look at my background, etc. we can absolutely set that up :) My under 18 games will never include adults in the mixture, unless it is a confirmed family game. I have researched several school and library programs regarding ttrpgs for youth and keep the games appropriate for the age, which for teens is a PG-13 and, once the DnD kids games are introduced, G-PG. This includes setting ground rules and not only shaping the in game content, but also moderating both the voice and text chats. I believe that ttrpgs can be a really great way for youths to practice social skills in a safe environment, encourage math and reading skills, and make new friends in an era where human connection is increasingly uncommon. Please message me with any questions you may have.

Character creation

Creating your character

The Core rulebook, X-Men expansion, Spiderverse Expansion, and Avengers expansion are all available! You can either choose a sheet of an established character in one of those books or you can build your own using the instructions on pages 43-50 in the Core Rulebook. This will be done before your first session, and each player is entitled to one 3 hour character creation help session with me if needed. Your sheet should be submitted at least 1 hour before your first game begins. Your character may start between Ranks 1 and 4. I am presuming most characters will be either level 3 or 4, but if you want to play, say, a citizen survivor that’s now an Avenger that is totally fine. I balance encounters to both the group and the individual. If you are starting at Rank 1 or 2, I will raise your ranks fairly quickly to meet with the other players. The rank cap will be 4 for this game, though if it seems like rank 5 could work and everyone wants to move the rank cap upwards, I am not opposed to doing so near the end of the campaign. I have a form-fillable PDF for the character sheet. I have a digital copy of the Core Rulebook and physical copies of the others, which I can take pictures from and share with you if at any point you become interested. The dicebot in my Discord server specifically is coded for the 616 dice system, so any Roll20 characters will only be for tokens on maps. If you want to only use basic powers or have your own Demiplane books and want to build your character on that sheet, that will also be fine.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please join the Discord server and Roll20. Please also read, in conjunction with character creation inf, chapters 2-4 of the core rulebook.

What Brooke- GM sadhedonist brings to the table

I provide a lifelike world with art, music, maps, sound effects, and character voices. My NPCs (you might not be the only survivors…) act like real people. I bring a compendium of knowledge on Marvel comics and know the rules. Using rules as written, you will leave my game knowing how the mechanics work and have a teacher who believes in you. This will be an action-packed game, but Marvel isn’t Marvel without the human moments and role play opportunities. You’ll be able to truly inhabit the character you created, not just their powers. I’m also very conscientious and will speak with everyone about horror level going into games, so that it can be thrilling but not too frightening.

Homebrew rules

We will use the optional Zombie rules in the free Tony’s Workshop supplement.

Safety

How Brooke- GM sadhedonist creates a safe table

My number one goal is always for my players to have fun. In order to have fun, you must feel safe! I use a variety of techniques to do so, starting with a lines and veils document based off the Monte Cooke Consent Checklist that will be sent upon joining the game. That document will also allow you to state what you wish to see in the future! We will also talk about how to make this game excellent for everyone during Session 0, something particularly important in a game with horror themes like this. That conversation never stops, and I’ll periodically check in after sessions if they’re intense. You can always stop a session if you’re uncomfortable by DMing me X on Discord, typing X in the chat and tagging me, clicking the X card on Roll20, or verbally saying ā€œX.ā€ The game will then immediately stop and we can come together to see what’s needed, and I’ll privately check in with you after the game has ended. I have a 13 minute break about halfway through the session and 5 minute breaks outside of that, but you are always free to leave for a bit to use the restroom, grab food, take an important call, etc. as long as you type brb in the chat. I’m always wanting to check in with my players, so you’ll get a GM feedback card from me where you can anonymously tell me your thoughts about halfway through the campaign, though you can always reach out!
