About the adventure
Los Angeles should have died. Forty years ago, rising seas swallowed entire districts of the city. Millions perished. Entire communities vanished beneath the Pacific. Yet somehow the city survived. Now towering corporate arcologies stretch into the sky above flooded ruins and sprawling neighborhoods struggling to endure. The rich live among polished towers and digital paradises while millions scrape together a living in the shadows below. Everyone is connected. Everyone is watched. Everyone is consuming. And then something impossible happens. Ordinary people suddenly gain extraordinary abilities. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. Some will become something far stranger. As corporations, governments, criminal organizations, and mysterious forces race to understand what has happened, the choices made by a handful of individuals may determine the future of an entire city—and perhaps the future of humanity itself.

About me
I’m a 37-year-old Game Master with a deep passion for collaborative storytelling, immersive worlds, and long-form character-driven campaigns. Tabletop gaming has been a major part of my life for years, and since shortly before COVID, professional GMing has been my full-time work. Over the years I’ve run multiple systems and settings, with a particular love for D&D 5e, Adventures in Middle-earth, and Chronicles of Darkness. My favorite campaigns tend to blend strong roleplay, atmosphere, mystery, tension, and meaningful character development. I especially enjoy building stories around player backstories and weaving their choices directly into the larger narrative. I also enjoy homebrew design and adapting systems to fit unique settings and themes. Some of my larger projects have included adapting settings like Elden Ring and Dragon Age into D&D, as well as creating crossover and conversion systems involving World/Chronicles of Darkness and Lord of Mysteries. Especially Lord of Mysteries... Some of my favorite settings and inspirations include Middle-earth, Ravenloft, Eberron, Wildemount, Dune, and the World of Darkness universe. Outside of online GMing, I’ve also been working on building an after-school LARPing program focused on creativity, storytelling, teamwork, and roleplay for younger players.

What Ashley brings to the table
My games emphasize character-driven storytelling, meaningful choices, immersive worldbuilding, and collaborative problem-solving. I enjoy creating living settings that react to player decisions and giving characters opportunities to pursue personal goals, build relationships, uncover mysteries, and leave a lasting impact on the world around them. Players can expect: Character-focused stories and personal development Superhuman powers that evolve over time Corporate conspiracies and hidden agendas Cyberpunk intrigue and social inequality Meaningful choices with long-term consequences Memorable NPCs with their own goals, ambitions, and secrets A living city that reacts to player actions A collaborative and welcoming table environment I use ambient music, maps, visual handouts, and character voices when appropriate to help establish atmosphere and immersion. Los Angeles itself is a major part of the campaign, from gleaming corporate arcologies and digital worlds to flooded districts, floating communities, and the ruins of the old city beneath the waves. This is not primarily a game about punching villains. It is a game about ordinary people suddenly gaining extraordinary abilities and deciding what they will do with them. Fame, responsibility, identity, relationships, power, and consequence all play important roles in the story. When rules questions arise, I prefer to make a quick ruling to keep the game moving and revisit the rule after the session if needed. I value consistency and fairness, but I don't like allowing lengthy rules debates to interrupt the flow of play. I generally favor a moderate Rule of Cool approach when it serves the story and remains fair to everyone at the table. Combat certainly has a place in the campaign, but investigation, relationships, exploration, difficult choices, and character growth are just as important. Players who enjoy mysteries, conspiracies, superhero drama, cyberpunk worlds, and stories where the actions of a handful of people can change the future will find plenty to enjoy in Los Angeles 2119.
Homebrew rules
- Power Shifts are an optional Cypher System rule designed for superhero campaigns to represent characters operating far beyond normal human limits. Rather than simply increasing a character's stat Pools, heroes typically receive five Power Shifts at character creation. Each Power Shift functions like a permanent, free level of Effort in a specific area—such as strength, speed, telepathy, or energy projection—automatically reducing the difficulty of relevant tasks without costing points, counting against Effort limits, or functioning as a skill or asset. The result is that superheroes can routinely perform extraordinary feats that would be impossible for ordinary characters while keeping the rules fast and straightforward. - This a long term game and so Players may go above Tier 6 and Advancing will be slower - Relationships with NPCS, Platonic or otherwise, will be measured mechanically. https://callmepartario.github.io/og-csrd/?utm_source=chatgpt.com#optional-rule-relationship-levels - Honestly, quite a few optional rules from Neon Rain, Claim the Sky, and Corebook

How Ashley creates a safe table
Creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment is important to me. Before the campaign begins, we will have a Session 0 to discuss expectations, table culture, character concepts, campaign themes, and any concerns players may have. Players may communicate concerns verbally, through Discord messages, or privately at any time. No explanation is required to use a safety tool. If something makes a player uncomfortable, we will address it respectfully and move forward. This campaign explores themes such as corporate exploitation, social inequality, surveillance, climate catastrophe, political conflict, superhuman powers, media influence, violence, and the consequences of extraordinary individuals operating in an imperfect world. During Session 0 we will discuss what subjects are appropriate for the table and establish any Lines (subjects excluded from play) and Veils (subjects that may exist in the setting but remain off-screen). Because this is a heavily character-driven campaign, we will also discuss boundaries regarding character conflict, romance, betrayal, fame, public scrutiny, and other potentially sensitive interactions before they arise during play. I encourage feedback throughout the campaign. If something is not working, if a player has concerns, or if someone simply wants to discuss their experience, I am always happy to listen. My goal is to create a table where everyone feels comfortable contributing, exploring their character, and engaging with the story. At the end of the day, this is a game about people. The powers may be extraordinary, but the choices, relationships, struggles, and triumphs belong to the characters. My goal is to create a table where everyone feels safe, respected, and excited to help tell that story together.
