Creating your character

For Players Joining at the Start If you are part of the initial cohort for the chronicle, your character will be created entirely during our dedicated Session Zero. We will walk through the V5 character creation process step-by-step together. This ensures everyone's characters are deeply tied to the setting, the overarching plot, and—most importantly—to each other. For Players Joining an Ongoing Chronicle If you are joining us down the road while the chronicle is already in motion, welcome aboard! We will book a separate, private time slot dedicated entirely to your character creation. I will guide you through the process. The Technical Details - Where We Create: Characters will be built digitally using our active platforms, Discord and WorldCraft. - Experience Level: We will be creating standard, newly turned (Fledgling/Neonated) characters. You do not need to pre-optimize stats or worry about complex builds. - Materials: You do not need to buy or reference any external books. As your Storyteller, I provide all the necessary materials and rules reference for the game. We will strictly stick to the core mechanics of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition (V5) to keep things smooth, intuitive, and accessible for everyone. Preparing for the session

Getting ready for our chronicle is simple and straightforward. Before our first session, please make sure you have completed the following steps: - Discord Account: You will need a free Discord account. Once you sign up for the game, you will receive a link to join my private gaming server where we will handle voice chat, announcements, and out-of-game coordination. - WorldCraft Account: We will use WorldCraft as our virtual tabletop platform. I don't run rigid, linear plots; instead, we collaborate to see how your neonates impact the world around them. - Thematic Focus: Our chronicle will lean heavily into the core pillars of Vampire: The Masquerade—personal horror (the struggle to keep your humanity) and political tension (navigating the dangerous, hidden vampire hierarchies of the city). - A Welcoming Table: I specialize in welcoming and teaching the V5 system to newcomers. I prioritize clear communication, patience, and helping everyone learn the mechanics smoothly as we build a memorable, dramatic story together.

Homebrew rules

We will be playing the game largely using the standard mechanics of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition (V5) to keep things intuitive and consistent. However, I do utilize one narrative rule to keep the story moving smoothly: - The Narrative Gauge Roll: For actions or choices that significantly impact the story but aren't strictly covered by the official rulebook, I might ask you to roll a single d10. Instead of a strict pass/fail check, this roll is used to gauge the degree of your character's success—or the narrative consequences—helping us dynamically determine exactly how the scene unfolds.

How Tatiane creates a safe table

Your safety, comfort, and consent are the absolute golden rules at my table. Vampire: The Masquerade is a game that explores dark, mature, and personal horror themes by design, which makes establishing clear boundaries essential before we ever roll a die. Here is how we ensure a safe and supportive gaming environment for everyone: - Session Zero Groundwork: We will review safety tools and establish our collective Lines and Veils. We will openly discuss the thematic boundaries of the chronicle to ensure everyone is on the same page and comfortable with the narrative direction. - A Living Document: Consent isn't a one-time checkmark. Our Lines and Veils document is a live, evolving concept. It can be updated at any time—before, during, or after a session—as the chronicle progresses and needs change. - In-Game Safety Tools: If a scene ever becomes too intense or uncomfortable, you can instantly send me a private message on Discord simply asking to "pause," "fade out," or "pivot away." I will immediately pause the action or transition the scene, no questions asked and with no need for you to explain. - Open Door Policy & Aftercare: My digital door is always open. Players are always welcome to message me privately during or after a session to discuss any content, check-in, or decompress.
