About the adventure

The City of Hamilton - known to Changelings as the City of the Iron Rose - lost much of its magical protections when the steel mills were greatly reduced. Attacked by loyalists and privateers, the two freeholds that the Hammer hosted folded into one, with survivors doing everything that they could to help keep one another safe. Now (mostly) rebuilt, Hamilton is experiencing problems that the city has never seen before, and it needs help from some new faces in order to right the ship - or just as ten years ago, another freehold may fall. The City of the Iron Rose is a play-by-post game using the Changeling the Lost 1st Edition rules. Due to mature content, this game is 18+ only.

About me

I have played and run tabletop games for over twenty years, starting with 2nd edition AD&D, and progressing through various iterations of Dungeons and Dragons, Shadowrun, Paranoia, Cyberpunk, Kobolds Are My Baby, FATE Core, Traveller, World of Darkness (various flavours), Exalted, and other games too numerous to briefly summarize. I helped to run story at three local live-action roleplay games, and currently work as an adult program instructor running Dungeons and Dragons for my hometown as part of the local recreation department. In that time, I have taught people how to play games, and learned from them. I have always been impressed by the creativity that a fantastic world and a few lines on paper can inspire in people, and I love to give people the opportunity to explore exciting new worlds with new challenges and opportunities for adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

This will occur during the first week, where we can discuss Keepers, shared history between characters if any, and details about the setting - a 'session zero'. Changeling The Lost First Edition and any books relevant to it (Winter Masques, Autumn Nightmares, etc.) are all fair game for materials. Characters will start as new Changelings freshly out of the Hedge.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This will be hosted on a Discord channel. Bots will be available for dice rolling and similar, so you will need a Discord account to participate.

What Andrew Dunlop brings to the table

We will embrace some rule of cool, and I'm happy to houserule for things that fall outside of the Rules as Written (within reason). The atmosphere will be ominous but hopeful - it is possible to make things better, but in the World of Darkness nothing is ever fixed forever.

Safety

How Andrew Dunlop creates a safe table

I will send a link to a Lines and Veils document; lines and veils will be enforced. We will also have a fade-to-black system for sexual scenes in the Discord - if players wish to pursue such scenes privately they are free to do so between consenting adults.
