About the adventure

The raven sees two armies clash below. It sees a runaway apprentice fleeing a dangerous secret. A soldier searching for purpose after the war. A scholar chasing forbidden knowledge. A criminal trying to outrun their past. A hero desperate to become something more. The raven sees Wildemount. This is not a pre-written adventure. This is a long-form Daggerheart campaign set in Critical Role's world of Exandria and built around the characters themselves. Before the campaign begins, I work closely with each player to develop goals, connections, mysteries, rivals, ambitions, and unfinished business. Those elements become the foundation of the story. Wildemount is a land of ancient ruins, political intrigue, dangerous frontiers, hidden conspiracies, forgotten magic, and powers both mortal and divine. The aftermath of war still shapes nations. The ambitions of kings, archmages, criminals, and revolutionaries continue to reshape the world. Which of these forces become important depends entirely on who the characters are and what they choose to pursue. My games emphasize character-driven storytelling, meaningful choices, immersive worldbuilding, and long-term consequences. Character backstories are not something I reference occasionally—they are the primary engine that drives the campaign. The people, places, enemies, allies, and mysteries connected to your character will shape the world around you and help determine where the story goes next. Wildemount is a setting I have returned to again and again over the years. I have run four separate Wildemount campaigns, each lasting multiple years, and no two stories have ever been the same. One of my favorite aspects of the setting is how well it supports character-driven storytelling, allowing player backstories, goals, rivalries, and choices to naturally shape the direction of the campaign. While Daggerheart is a system I am actively learning, I bring years of professional Game Master experience, long-form campaign design, character-focused storytelling, and collaborative worldbuilding to the table. My goal is to combine Daggerheart's narrative strengths with a setting I know well to create a campaign where every character matters and every choice leaves a mark. Whether you are a longtime Critical Role fan or completely new to Exandria, you'll find a place in the story. The greatest legends of Wildemount are not found in history books. They're sitting at the table waiting to be created.

About me

I’m a 37-year-old Game Master with a deep passion for collaborative storytelling, immersive worlds, and long-form character-driven campaigns. Tabletop gaming has been a major part of my life for years, and since shortly before COVID, professional GMing has been my full-time work. Over the years I’ve run multiple systems and settings, with a particular love for D&D 5e, Adventures in Middle-earth, and Chronicles of Darkness. My favorite campaigns tend to blend strong roleplay, atmosphere, mystery, tension, and meaningful character development. I especially enjoy building stories around player backstories and weaving their choices directly into the larger narrative. I also enjoy homebrew design and adapting systems to fit unique settings and themes. Some of my larger projects have included adapting settings like Elden Ring and Dragon Age into D&D, as well as creating crossover and conversion systems involving World/Chronicles of Darkness and Lord of Mysteries. Especially Lord of Mysteries... Some of my favorite settings and inspirations include Middle-earth, Ravenloft, Eberron, Wildemount, Dune, and the World of Darkness universe. Outside of online GMing, I’ve also been working on building an after-school LARPing program focused on creativity, storytelling, teamwork, and roleplay for younger players.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created before Session 1, and I will work closely with each player to develop a character that feels connected to both Wildemount and the rest of the party. We will begin at Level 1 using the standard Daggerheart character creation rules. All official Daggerheart classes, ancestries, communities, and domains are welcome unless otherwise discussed. No prior Daggerheart experience is required, and I am happy to guide players through the entire process. Unlike many campaigns, character creation is one of the most important parts of this game. Before the campaign begins, I work with players to develop goals, relationships, rivals, mysteries, unfinished business, and connections to the world. These elements often become the foundation of future story arcs and adventures. The more I know about your character, the more opportunities I have to weave them into the campaign. Wildemount is a setting rich with ancient ruins, political tensions, hidden organizations, dangerous frontiers, and forgotten secrets. Whether your character is tied to the Dwendalian Empire, the Kryn Dynasty, the Clovis Concord, the Cerberus Assembly, a local community, or something entirely their own, I want them to feel like they belong in the world. This campaign is built around the characters at the table. Character creation is not simply choosing abilities—it is the first step in creating the story we will tell together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before Session 1, players should: * Create a free Discord account. * Join the campaign Discord server. * Have a reliable internet connection and a quality microphone/headset. * Be granted access to the rules and campaign materials. * Read any setting primers, handouts, or campaign information provided before the game. No prior Daggerheart experience is required. Because this campaign is heavily character-driven, players should come prepared with ideas, questions, goals, and interests for their character. I will work with each player to help create a character that feels connected to Wildemount and has meaningful ties to the world. Curiosity, initiative, and investment in your character are far more important than system mastery.

What Ashley brings to the table

My games emphasize character-driven storytelling, meaningful choices, immersive worldbuilding, and long-term consequences. I enjoy creating living worlds that react to player decisions and building stories around character goals, relationships, rivalries, ambitions, and personal growth. Players can expect: * Deep roleplay and character development * Long-term story arcs built around the party * Memorable NPCs with their own goals and motivations * Exploration, discovery, and adventure * Mysteries, secrets, and hidden opportunities * A collaborative and welcoming table environment I use ambient music, maps, visual handouts, and character voices when appropriate to help establish atmosphere and immersion. Wildemount is a setting filled with ancient ruins, political tensions, dangerous frontiers, forgotten magic, and powerful factions, and I strive to make the world feel alive and responsive to the actions of the characters. Combat is important and can be challenging, but it is only one part of the experience. Exploration, investigation, diplomacy, relationships, and personal character stories are equally important. Players who enjoy seeing their choices influence the world and watching their characters grow over time will find plenty of opportunities to shine. When rules questions arise, I prefer to make a quick ruling to keep the game moving and revisit the rule after the session if needed. I value consistency and fairness, but I don't like lengthy rules debates interrupting the flow of play. I generally favor a moderate Rule of Cool approach when it creates memorable moments and remains fair to everyone at the table. Most importantly, I build campaigns around the characters. Your backstory is not something I reference occasionally—it is one of the primary engines that drives the campaign. The people, places, allies, enemies, mysteries, and unfinished business connected to your character will help shape the story we tell together.

Safety

How Ashley creates a safe table

# Player Safety & Comfort Creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment is important to me. Before the campaign begins, we will have a Session 0 to discuss expectations, table culture, character concepts, campaign themes, and any concerns players may have. I use a combination of: * Lines & Veils * X, N, & O Cards * Open Door Policy * Ongoing Check-Ins Players may communicate concerns verbally, through Discord messages, or privately at any time. No explanation is required to use a safety tool. If something makes a player uncomfortable, we will address it respectfully and move forward. Wildemount is a setting that can explore themes such as war, loss, faith, political conflict, moral ambiguity, prejudice, violence, personal responsibility, and the consequences of power. During Session 0 we will discuss what subjects are appropriate for the table and establish any Lines (subjects excluded from play) and Veils (subjects that may exist in the setting but remain off-screen). I also encourage feedback throughout the campaign. If something is not working, if a player has concerns, or if someone simply wants to discuss their experience, I am always happy to listen. My goal is to create a table where everyone feels comfortable contributing, exploring their character, and enjoying the story together. At the end of the day, we are here to tell a great story and have fun doing it.
