About the adventure

This campaign will be diving into the harsh, yet beautiful world of One Piece set some time in an ambiguous past. Players will set sail to explore the world and make a name for themselves as they fight against the dangers on the vast seas. We'll be using the Daggerheart system wich allows for plenty of freedom for both the GM and Player to collaborate on the story and work together on building the adventure that will proceed you. With the rules light and narrative driven system of Daggerheart, players will have the freedom to play and flavor their classes, abilities, and even devil fruit powers on how it best suits the story. I'll be working along side you to make sure I can deliver the best One Piece experience I can give you. - Two classes have been integrated into the game to make up for some of the classes that are unavailable. Brawlers and Marksmen are now selectable classes. - Custom Ancestries are part of the story. Pick an ancestry that is part of the world. From a cyborg or mink, to a Lunarian or Fish-man. - For the purpose of the game, Wizards, Sorcerers, and Druids are not available classes, with the exception to Bards as music is also an integral part of the World Oda has built and their class can easily be reflavored to fit the lack of magic in the world. Join if you're brave enough to venture the vast seas filled with strange lands and powers.

About me

My name is Aydan, I'm 22 and love to create worlds for players to escape to. From my first time homebrewing a world in D&D to running consistent games for my friends, I've found a deep love for being a GM and getting to experience the laughter, tears of joy and sadness, and screams of victory from my players as they tell their own stories in a world I made for them. Like any GM, I had to learn how to deliver those moments, and even now, I recognize I still got much more to learn. My engineering teacher once told me that regardless of where you are in life, one never stops learning. Failure is a part of life and it's also the best teacher. Expanding my horizons and GMing for new people is, what I believe, my next step in becoming the best GM I can be. My goal has always been simple, I recognize that life is hard and many of us find comfort in TTRPG games or in community and more often than not, we find it in both. I wish to be a door for people to come and create something that they can call theirs and watch it flourish and develop in a world where almost anything is possible. I enjoy teaching new players and if you're new, I'm more than happy to do what I can to provide a great experience so you may also be part of this wonderful community that changed my life and allowed me to make some of the closest friends I still have to this day.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be starting at level 1 (also known as tier 1 in the game) and make our way to level 5 (known as tier 3). Character creation will take place during Session 0, where we'll get together to talk about expectations and backstories as well.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. We'll be using Discord to get together over calls. You can join here: https://discord.gg/mXV2Cftqg4 2. We will be using FoundryVTT, but due to issues with my wifi provider, I can't port forward games at the moment. Hamachi will be nessecary to join the game, you can download it here: (https://vpn.net/) 3. (Optional) Not necessary, but recommended to watch a few guides on the Daggerheart System. [Critical Role has some good short guides available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKCcN4B6ZBs&list=PL1tiwbzkOjQzrupXVqcsfRyJ_0m5ABXov] 4. Think about how you want your character to fight and solve their problems. Do they use brute force? Rely on a Devil Fruit power? Do they perhaps like to talk their way out of a sticky situation? 5. Last and most importantly, think of a rough dream or goal you want your potential character to have. Dreams and inhereted will afterall are a key theme across One Piece as a whole.

What Aydan (Haydn) brings to the table

I will have music provided for us as we play that will come from modules I bought for the VTT we'll be using. Additionally, we're here to have fun and try out how the system will fair against the vast creative systems of the One Piece world, thus, Rule of Cool will be used more often than not to make sure the narrative the players want to tell fit the story.

Homebrew rules

The biggest Homebrew that will be used will come in the form of "Devil Fruit Points" and how using haki will work later in the game. Nothing too complicated, Fruit Points are accumulated through successful uses of your abilities and you'll be able to spend those points for more powerful or difficult actions with said powers. Similar to how the Hope point system already works in the game. As for Haki, when available to the players, we'll be testing out it's usage through the "Stress" system already in the game.

How Aydan (Haydn) creates a safe table

We will start with a Session 0 to talk about expectations, that way we can become more familiar with what we're all comfortable with as a group. This is a cooperative story telling game, it is important we can all be in agreement before moving on to creating out characters, especially if you know how gritty One Piece can be at times. After each session, I value feedback and being able to check in with my players. I'll check in on the group to make sure we've all had fun and to hear what places where Highs and Lows for each player. This will allow me to continuously improve the game and cater the experience to fit the table best so we all continue to have fun. Additionally, do not be afraid to speak up in the middle of a game if needed. I want for everyone involved to be able to have fun and be comfortable. This will be an expectation that will be further expanded upon during session 0 as an expectation we should all be able to agree upon.
