About the adventure

Play Daggerheart in a frontier world of danger, mystery, and opportunity. You are the crew of a caravan wagon bound for Phandalin, carrying supplies, hope, and personal goals strapped to the back of your journey. The roads of Faerûn are not safe: bandits, goblins, and worse prey upon travelers who think the wilds can be tamed. What begins as a simple delivery quickly unravels into something far larger. As you travel, you’ll be pulled into conflicts that stretch far beyond the road ahead, where every choice matters and danger can arrive in silence as easily as in battle. This is a play-by-post (PBP) game of survival, discovery, and growing power in a dangerous frontier. Expect a slower, narrative-driven pace focused on roleplay, character choices, and shared storytelling. Whether you’re new to tabletop RPGs or experienced adventurers, this game is about working together through text to endure the unknown and deciding what you’re willing to risk when the road leads deeper into legend.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Creation 🧾 We will create characters before the game begins 🕰️, so we can jump straight into play-by-post storytelling once the campaign starts. If you’re new, I can help you build your character step-by-step 🤝. 📍 Where to build your character 🏗️ We will use Demiplane (Daggerheart Nexus) 💻 for character creation and sheets. All characters should be created and managed there so everyone is using the same rules and options. 🎲 Starting level & stats ⚔️ Starting Level: 1 🌱 Characters begin as early adventurers on the edge of something much larger. Use standard Daggerheart character creation rules as provided in Demiplane 📖. 📚 Allowed materials 📜 Allowed: Official Daggerheart content available in Demiplane Nexus ✔️ GM-approved homebrew (if any): Ask before using anything custom 🧪 Not needed: Any external rulebooks or D&D books 🚫📚 (this is a Daggerheart game, not a D&D rules game) 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Character expectations 🎭 Your character should: Be able to reasonably travel as part of a caravan crew 🚚 Be ready for a mix of roleplay, danger, and unfolding mystery 🌫️ Fit into a cooperative, story-driven party 🤝 ⏳ When to build 🛠️ Characters should be completed before Session/PBP start 📅 We may do a short “session zero” discussion in chat to connect characters and relationships before play begins 💬✨

What DM Topaz brings to the table

What You Can Expect From Me as Your GM 🎭 This is a play-by-post (PBP) campaign focused on story, character choices, and collaborative worldbuilding in a frontier adventure inspired by Lost Mine of Phandelver, run using Daggerheart rules. 📖 Narrative-first storytelling ✍️ This game is heavily story-driven and character-focused. I’ll describe scenes, NPCs, and consequences in a cinematic, readable style designed for PBP pacing. The goal is to make the world feel alive through your decisions, not just combat encounters. Expect: Rich scene descriptions 🌲 Reactive NPCs with motives and goals 🧠 Story that adapts to player choices 🔁 🎭 Roleplay & character focus Character choices, personalities, and relationships matter just as much as combat. I encourage in-character dialogue and decision-making 🗣️ Backstories will be woven into the world where possible 🧵 Quiet moments, travel scenes, and downtime are meaningful—not skipped ⛺ 🎲 Rules + flexibility ⚖️ We will use Daggerheart rules as the foundation, but: Rules are used to support the story, not slow it down I’ll prioritize clarity and momentum in PBP pacing I may simplify or streamline rulings when needed for flow We lean toward: ✔️ Rules-as-intended + consistency ✔️ Rule of Cool when it fits the fiction ⚔️ Combat style Combat will be: Tactical enough to feel meaningful 🛡️ Described narratively for clarity 📖 Faster-paced than grid-heavy systems (since this is PBP) You can expect: Cinematic action descriptions 🎬 Clear turn structure when combat happens 🔄 Emphasis on creativity and positioning over exact grids 🎧 Atmosphere & immersion While I can’t provide direct music or voice acting in chat: NPCs will have distinct voices in tone and dialogue style 🗨️ 🌙 Tone of the game This campaign sits in a tone mix of: Adventure & discovery 🧭 Danger and survival ⚠️ Mystery and faction conflict 🕯️ Character-driven storytelling ❤️

Homebrew rules

Homebrew Rules 🧪⚖️ This campaign follows Daggerheart rules as written (RAW) as closely as possible. Mechanics are not changed unless absolutely necessary for play-by-post clarity. 📜 Rules-first gameplay 📖 We primarily use official Daggerheart rules exactly as written Rules support fairness, consistency, and shared expectations Any uncertainty will default to RAW interpretation first 🎭 Rule of Cool (limited use) 🌟 Creative actions are encouraged, but still resolved within RAW whenever possible If something is outside the rules, I will usually ask for an alternative rather than override mechanics Rule of Cool will not replace core mechanics, only influence narration when multiple valid outcomes exist 🧪 Homebrew content approval 🛠️ Minor flavor changes are always allowed 🎨 Mechanical homebrew is not allowed unless explicitly approved by the GM in advance 🚫 If you’re unsure whether something counts as homebrew, ask first—collaboration is welcome 🤝 ⚖️ GM rulings 📌 Any necessary rulings made for PBP clarity will aim to stay consistent with RAW If a ruling deviates for pacing or ambiguity, it will be clearly explained and treated as a table exception, not a rules change

Safety

How DM Topaz creates a safe table

Safety & Comfort 🛡️ This is a collaborative, story-focused play-by-post (PBP) game, and player comfort comes first. We’ll be using clear safety tools and open communication to make sure everyone can enjoy the story without stress or discomfort. 📄 Lines & Veils 🧾 We will use a Lines & Veils document for this campaign. Lines 🚫 = content that will not appear in the game at all Veils 🌫️ = content that may exist in the story but will “fade to black” or be handled off-screen Before the game begins, I will: Ask you for your Lines and Veils. Nothing major will be included without checking player comfort first.
