About the adventure

A routine caravan journey turns deadly when a traveler is murdered in the isolated village of Etran’s Folly — better known as Plaguestone. The locals are frightened, suspicious, and quick to blame outsiders. But the truth runs deeper than one death, and the village’s old scars may be hiding something far worse. In The Fall of Plaguestone, your party will investigate a murder, uncover dangerous secrets, face tactical Pathfinder 2e combats, and decide what kind of heroes you want to become when everyone around you is scared, angry, or desperate. This is a contained adventure with a clear beginning, middle, and end — perfect if you want something more substantial than a one-shot without committing to a years-long campaign. New to Pathfinder 2e? You’re welcome here. I’ll help with character creation, rules questions, Foundry VTT basics, and tactical options during play. Expect a mix of roleplay, investigation, exploration, and combat, with a darker small-town mystery tone. The first session will be a free Session 0. We’ll meet each other, talk through the campaign premise and table expectations, review safety tools, answer questions, and make characters together. There will be no charge for Session 0. Paid sessions begin with the first actual gameplay session. After Session 0, the game will be $15 per player per session. You can expect: Beginner-friendly Pathfinder 2e onboarding Foundry VTT maps, tokens, lighting, automation, and character sheets Discord voice chat Tactical combat with clear guidance Investigation, social scenes, and meaningful choices A complete mini-campaign, not an endless open-ended commitment Supportive table culture with room for learning This adventure may include fantasy violence, murder investigation, poison, disease, alchemical horror, body horror elements, animal danger/cruelty themes, and small-town suspicion or mob tension. We’ll discuss boundaries and safety tools before play.

About me

I'm Erik, and I love GM'ing for Pathfinder 2nd Edition and Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. I enjoy the collaborative storytelling and gaming that this hobby brings. Fun is the key ingredient that I'd like to bring to each game. I grew up as a kid playing Dungeons and Dragons, mostly 2nd edition. But my cousin started me out with 1st edition. I use Foundry VTT in my games and have a blast with it.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create characters during Session 0 and will use the PF2e Remaster rules. You could use any of the books to create characters. Free archetype rules are allowed. I recommend building your characters out in Pathbuilder 2e if you want to create them prior to Session 0. They can be imported into Foundry VTT easily.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account as we will be using Discord voice chat in-game. The virtual tabletop that we will use is called Foundry VTT. There are no downloads needed for this. You will just need a computer and web browser. (Mobile will not work reliably with Foundry VTT.)

What Badbugbear brings to the table

Players can expect a fun, welcoming environment where the story always comes first. I love bringing the world of Golarion to life with unique NPC voices and immersive role-playing to make every encounter feel meaningful. While I have a grasp of Pathfinder 2e’s mechanics, I believe the rules should serve the story, not the other way around. I frequently lean into the 'Rule of Cool'. You can also expect a smooth technical experience. I use Foundry VTT to provide high-quality maps, ambient music, and automated combat so we can spend less time crunching numbers and more time focused on the adventure. My goal is for everyone at the table to feel like a hero in a collaborative, inclusive story.

Safety

How Badbugbear creates a safe table

Your comfort and safety are my top priorities. I utilize a digital X-Card system (accessible directly within FoundryVTT) to ensure that everyone has a quick, no-pressure way to signal if a scene or topic becomes uncomfortable. Beyond the X-Card, I maintain an 'open door' policy—you are always welcome to message me privately before, during, or after a session with any concerns or boundaries. We will spend the first few minutes of our game briefly reviewing these tools to ensure our collaborative story remains a fun, respectful, and welcoming space for everyone.
