About the adventure

Phandalin has always been a rough‑and‑ready frontier town—quiet enough to feel safe, wild enough to promise adventure. But recently, something has changed. Strange tremors shake the earth at night. Travelers vanish on the road. Animals flee the forests, and those who remain behave… wrong. Rumors spread of green‑glowing stones buried deep below the town, pulsing like a heartbeat. Local leaders are desperate. They need heroes willing to investigate the disturbances, protect the townsfolk, and uncover the truth behind the rising chaos. What begins as a simple call for help quickly spirals into a mystery tied to ancient magic, forgotten ruins, and a threat that reaches far beyond Phandalin’s borders. As the corruption spreads, the land twists into something unrecognizable. Creatures once harmless become warped and hostile. Old enemies stir. And beneath it all, an otherworldly power awakens—one connected to a shattered obelisk whose influence is growing stronger by the day. Your party will explore classic dungeons, delve into newly revealed depths, and face choices that shape the fate of the region. Expect a blend of heroic fantasy, creeping mystery, and escalating danger as you uncover what lies beneath the earth… and what it wants. This campaign is perfect for players who enjoy: A mix of classic dungeon‑crawling and modern narrative depth A mystery that evolves from local trouble to cosmic stakes Roleplay opportunities with memorable NPCs and factions Combat that ranges from gritty skirmishes to reality‑bending encounters A story that rewards curiosity, teamwork, and bold decisions Whether you’re new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, this campaign offers a rich, escalating journey from humble beginnings to world‑shaking revelations. The frontier town of Phandalin stands on the brink—and the choices you make will determine whether it survives the darkness rising below. Are you ready to face the Shattered Obelisk?

Character creation

Creating your character

Make your characters at any time. Level 1 characters made in DnDBeyond, Characters should be made before Session Zero. Session 0 will be onboarding everyone, going over characters and backstory - tying players together and making sure everyone is good with types of gameplay. Players should be level 12 by the end of the adventure.

The current party

Party makeup is really flexible, if you're class isn't enjoyable, We can make changes and ensure you're having fun - that is the whole point of this game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Links to Discord and to my Campaign in D&D Beyond will be provided. I will assist if needed to make your character - especially if you are new!

What Ka Mung Vej brings to the table

I do embrace the Rule of Cool. The bottom line, is that the players should have fun ( and I should to ) this isn't me vs you. It's a collaborative story telling game. No hate, no toxicity. Just have fun. I don't fly with people being 'edgy' because that is what their character would do - This is a co-op game.

How Ka Mung Vej creates a safe table
