About the adventure

Whether you're a new player, or someone looking to have a dragon filled campaign, this may just be the game for you. You will play a standard adventuring party working as members of the adventurer's guild in the world of Xaryx a high magic world, where dragons are more rare, but also venerated more so than perhaps other worlds as a result. Despite their high status, though, there weren't really any cults dedicated to their worship, key word WEREN'T. Embark on a mission to find this new dragon cult, learn about their motivations, the larger factors at play, and most importantly get the chance to interact and fight both with and against many dragons,

About me

I started playing in High School with Dungeons and Dragons 4e, before switching over to and running many 5e games. Recently I have started exploring older editions more, both to play and for ideas. I have been GMing for the past 8+ years for many friends and family members.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done during session 0 with everyone at the same time, to plan team ideas and make sure everyone does the same thing. I usually allow all official 5e materials, with homebrew or 3rd party material dependent upon my discretion, though homebrew is often not balanced and is likely to be struck down, or modified.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account for the game voice chat, and Roll20 for all maps and visual elements

What Garrett Gifford brings to the table

I tend to do a good mix of rule of cool and rules as written, as there are many places in 5e that the rules aren't clearly defined, or are extremely restricting like magic item creation. If you have a cool idea that bends the rules we can talk about it and try to find a way for it to work. I tend to have a good mix of combat and rp, favoring whichever side players decide in Session 0, and shifting if asked. I do tend to run my enemies depending upon their intelligence as goblins and kobolds are cunning sneaky creatures, so they will flank, whereas a mindless ooze won't care to flank an enemy. I personally like to use a lot of voices for different characters, it helps me differentiate and it is just something I enjoy.

Homebrew rules

I personally use drinking a potion is a bonus action, flanking is included, and Legendary Resistance is a reroll not a guaranteed success I also have a homebrew system and in-game way to add create spells if that is something that interests you.

Safety

How Garrett Gifford creates a safe table

I have a safety checklist that will be sent to all players to fill out for Session 0 to talk about what themes people are and aren't okay with. As well, during the game if any content pops up that you aren't ok with, a quick message to me and it will change no questions asked.
