About the adventure

Six months after the Battle of Endor, the Emperor is dead, Darth Vader is gone, and the second Death Star is ash over the forest moon. But the Empire has not fallen. Moffs, admirals, intelligence chiefs, and warlords now tear at each other for control while the Rebel Alliance struggles to finish the war and become something more than a rebellion. Victory did not end the Imperial machine. It only left it wounded, desperate, and full of secrets. You are one of those secrets. The characters are former Imperial assets: black-ops agents, ISB operatives, assassins, Emperor’s Hands, Legends-style Imperial Inquisitors, dark side adepts, or other classified specialists who fell out of favor and were locked away in case they ever became useful again. Now Director Cael Orison, a dangerous ISB manipulator with ties to the Rebellion, has opened your cell and offered you a choice: remain evidence of the Empire’s crimes, or become useful to the government rising from its ashes. This game is for players who want morally gray Star Wars: espionage, dangerous missions, political compromises, old Imperial ghosts, and characters trying to decide whether they are tools, monsters, survivors, or something better. Dark side and ex-Imperial characters are welcome, as long as they can function with the group and avoid cartoon villainy. The tone is Andor meets The Bad Batch meets The Blacklist: tense, cinematic, character-driven, and full of impossible choices. My style focuses on roleplay, atmosphere, and meaningful consequences. Expect dangerous missions, faction politics, cinematic action, and chances for your character’s past to matter. You may not be the public heroes of the New Republic, but someone has to hunt the war criminals, rogue Inquisitors, Sith loyalists, black-site commanders, and Imperial weapons programs that Endor did not destroy.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will begin with a conversation before play so we can make sure every character fits the tone, premise, and party. This is a morally gray Star Wars game about former Imperial assets, so characters should be dangerous, complicated, and useful—but still able to work with the group. Dark side characters, ex-Inquisitors, Emperor’s Hands, ISB agents, assassins, spies, and black-ops specialists are all on the table, as long as they are not disruptive or cartoonishly evil. We will build characters together using the approved rules and options for the system, with starting level/stats decided before Session 0. I am happy to help players narrow down concepts, connect them to Director Cael Orison’s operation, and make sure their Imperial past gives them useful story hooks without taking over the whole campaign. We are using the Legends-style Imperial Inquisitorius, not the newer numbered Brother/Sister canon version. The first session will include final character checks, party connections, safety boundaries, and making sure everyone understands why their character accepts Orison’s offer. Your character does not need to be a hero—but they do need a reason to take the job, stay with the team, and survive the dangerous work of becoming one of the New Republic’s deniable assets.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: A Discord account We will use Discord for voice, game discussion, announcements, and between-session communication. A working microphone Video is welcome but not required. Clear audio is the most important thing. Access to the VTT We will use either Roll20 or Alchemy VTT, depending on final setup. Please make sure you can log in and access the game link before session. A character concept ready to discuss You do not need everything finalized immediately, but come with an idea for a former Imperial asset: an ISB agent, black-ops operative, assassin, Emperor’s Hand, Legends-style Inquisitor, dark side adept, or another classified specialist. A willingness to play morally gray Star Wars This game is about dangerous people doing ugly work in the shadow of the Empire’s fall. Characters should be complicated, but they still need to work with the party and engage with the mission. Before play, we will confirm character concepts, safety expectations, VTT access, and how your character became one of Director Cael Orison’s deniable assets.

What Jonathan Milton brings to the table

I will provide the tools, guidance, and atmosphere needed to make the game feel like a cinematic Star Wars espionage story. Players can expect help with character creation, clear session setup, story hooks tied to their Imperial past, and support getting comfortable with the rules and VTT. I want every character to feel like they matter to the operation, not just as a stat block, but as someone with secrets, regrets, enemies, and reasons to keep going. My GM style leans heavily into roleplay, mood, and consequence. I use music, maps, art, handouts, NPCs, and mission briefings to help bring the world alive. I am not claiming to be an Oscar-winning actor, but I do enjoy character voices, dramatic dialogue, and giving important NPCs distinct personalities. Director Cael Orison, Imperial warlords, Rebel handlers, rogue Inquisitors, and underworld contacts should all feel like people with agendas of their own. Combat will be cinematic and dangerous rather than random. There will be room for tactical choices, stealth, infiltration, social manipulation, desperate escapes, and explosive Star Wars action. I generally respect the rules, but I also embrace the Rule of Cool when it makes the scene more exciting, dramatic, or true to the spirit of the story. Clever plans, strong character moments, and bold risks will matter. Above all, I want this game to feel collaborative. This is a morally gray campaign, but it is not an excuse for disruptive play. Players can expect a table where dark side characters, ex-Imperials, spies, and assassins are welcome, but teamwork, consent, and shared fun come first. The goal is to tell a tense, character-driven story about dangerous people trying to survive the fall of the Empire—and maybe become something more than the weapons they were made to be.

Safety

How Jonathan Milton creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort matter, especially in a morally gray game about former Imperial agents, espionage, violence, interrogation, betrayal, and dark side themes. Before play, we will use Session 0 to talk through expectations, tone, character concepts, boundaries, and what kinds of content belong in the game. This is a Star Wars story with darker edges, but it is still meant to be fun, collaborative, and safe for everyone at the table. I use safety tools inspired by Monte Cook’s Consent in Gaming, including a Lines and Veils conversation. Lines are content we do not include at all. Veils are content that may exist in the story but will fade to black or stay off-screen. Players are welcome to message me privately before or during the campaign if they want to add, clarify, or change a boundary. During the game, players can use digital X, N, and O signals through chat or direct message. X means stop or remove the content. N means slow down, adjust, or proceed carefully. O means the player is okay and wants to continue. No one needs to justify using a safety tool. If something needs to be changed, we change it and keep playing. After intense sessions, I make room for quick check-ins and aftercare. That might mean a short post-game conversation, a private message, or simply giving players space to decompress. The goal is to keep the tension and drama in the story, not at the table. Dark side characters, Imperial trauma, and morally difficult missions are welcome, but player comfort and trust come first.
