About the adventure

About the Module: You are among Sharpe Co's best (or at least most debt-ridden?) employees, who have answered the call to recover the Anomaly from the mines of S-4813. Sharpe Co's rhodium mine has been shut down by miners-turned cultists for seven years, since the discovery of the Anomaly kicked of a long-standing labor dispute. Sharpe Co is done playing games, and has decided to settle accounts on S-4813. You will have 72 hours to recover and return the Anomaly to local Sharpe Co rep Mamitu Abdella, after which Sharpe Co will proceed with orbital bombardment of the mine. You have operational discretion as to how your mission is accomplished, but Sharpe Co has authorized lethal force if necessary. This is a beginner-friendly adventure for the Mothership RPG that channels in a Star Wars influence, as well as a few others. This module will run for 2-4 sessions, depending on player choices, and can open up afterwards into a longer campaign in the persistent world that the players have created. About Mothership: You can expect thrills and chills in Mothership's sci-fi horror setting, where stress is NOT your friend but can make for some wickedly fun dice rolls and consequences! Life is fragile in Mothership, so don't get too attached to your characters! In the fairly likely event of your character's demise, we can have you back in the game is minutes thanks to Mothership's quick, intuitive character creation, so you won't miss any action!

About me

I’m Rob, a 40ish family man from Jersey, but living in Music City USA. I was exclusively a player in RPGs for about 20 years, until I took over GM duties out of necessity for a long-running group in 2020. I unlocked a skillset, leveled it up, and haven’t looked back since! I am an advocate for TTRPGs, and will sing the hobby’s praises to anyone who will listen! I love introducing people to the hobby. Teaching them to play and watching as they learn, grow and have fun never fails to bring me joy! I’m more of a sci-fi nerd than a fantasy nerd, so I was INSTANTLY hooked when I discovered Mothership in 2020. It has become my main system, although I’m down to run ANYTHING that tells a good story!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is very quick via the free Mothership Companion App, and the app will also allow you to see my hosted virtual tabletop. You can do this ahead of time, or we can work on it together before the game starts. The app is available on Apple, Android, or on PC.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need the following: -A Discord account to access the server, along with a headphones or earbuds, and a working microphone -Camera is optional -Access to the free Mothership 1E rules. You can download the Player's Survival Guide (Pay what you want) here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/484222/mothership-player-s-survival-guide . Tuesday Knight Games, the creators of Mothership, are a small, independent company, so I'm sure they would appreciate any monetary support you are able to provide. -I highly recommend downloading the free Mothership Companion App. The app walks you step-by-step through character creation, and I'll be using the virtual tabletop feature built into it for our session. The VTT integrates your character sheet and an automated dice roller....and it's free to download and use! You can get the app on android, IOS or Mac.

Safety

How Rob Smith creates a safe table

Session 0 - We’ll set our format and content expectations during a session zero, where we can all talk about it in an open forum. Luxton Technique - Before we start, I'll ask everyone if there are any triggers/subject matter that we need to avoid, and we can discuss it. If there is something in the story that may come into play here, now is the time to discuss it. X Cards - If you are on camera, you can have an index card or something similar to hold up to symbolize your X card. If you are not on camera, please let me know via chat of DM on Discord by typing "X", so we can take a quick pause from the game to work through any situations that may arise. Breaks and Open Door - If you need a de-stressing, snack/drink, stretching or bio break, no worries! Please feel free to step away at any time. I ask that you leave a quick chat note if possible, so the rest of the group is aware of your brief absence in case it may effect the story, so we can put a pin where we are until you return. On that note, if you feel something needs to be discussed, we an absolutely pause at any time to talk about it. End of Session Debrief - After we finish a session, I would like to take a few minutes to discuss what went well, and what I could have done better for you. I'll provide a quick google survey link as well. Nothing is off limits here, so if you need to talk to me about something, please fee free. If you'd rather speak privately, we can also do that.
