About the adventure

Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk is a remake of the old module: Lost Mines of Phandelver. Explore this old module in a new and technically impressive way. This game is good for players old and new. New players can appreciate the good slice of D&D this module provides. This campaign is a great introduction to D&D. Old players can appreciate the new coat of paint applied to this classic module. Even those who've played the old module will find something new and interesting to enjoy. This game is also perfect for anyone interested in learning Foundry and will offer the best of what Foundry VTT has to offer.

About me

I'm Robert! Long time fan of fantasy and sci-fi. I cut my teeth with TTRPGs playing D&D 5e back in 2022. Started GMing for it about 6 months later for my local game store. I was raised by two improv actors so I've basically been roleplaying my whole life. Once I got into D&D, I got really into Tabletop gaming as a whole. It's an endless rabbit hole to go down. Eventually I found I want to play specific types of D&D games and games other than D&D. Best way to do that is by GMing.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done in foundry either in session 0 or before the first game. I have the PHB, MM, and DMG for 5.5, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, and Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn in Foundry so keep in mind that's all we're going to have from the beginning. If you want an option not in those sources, please let me know before the session and I'll see what I can do.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Ensure you can access the Discord and the Forge server. All players are required to have a microphone.

What Ruby brings to the table

I'm a heavy roleplay guy. I want to make sure all of my NPCs are fun to interact with. I also always have my webcam on as I believe seeing my face makes for a better roleplay experience. There's also a technical aspect to this game that I am providing. I intend to support the VTT as software and maintain it's functionality. I also have Archivist AI for taking notes.

Homebrew rules

I don't tend to track basic ammo or carry weight. Don't try to carry a grand piano and we should be fine. I also incorporate what I call "Video Game Level-Ups" where leveling up gives you the benefits of a long rest. This game also uses XP leveling. This keeps me honest and ensures I can't just throw monster after monster at you without leveling you up. Also ensures you know exactly how far away you are from leveling.

Safety

How Ruby creates a safe table

Communication is key. My game uses lines and veils. My major line is rape: I don't want your characters raping anyone and I will never portray rape in my games. My veil is torture. I will not roleplay torture. Partially because I live in an apartment and I'd rather not have the pigs called on me. I'm very accommodating. If you communicate that you don't want spiders or snakes, I won't include spiders or snakes. The one caveat is that my replacements for spiders and snakes are going to be something silly.
