About the adventure

The Witherwild creeps and pulses through the land: an overgrowth that twists flesh and forest alike, turning plants, beasts, and even people into warped, hungry things. The walled city of Haven stands as a flickering bastion of light on the edge of all this creeping corruption. But darkness never sleeps. You and your allies have been tasked with one desperate mission: infiltrate the closed city, descend into the forgotten catacombs beneath its foundations, and recover a fractured artifact known as the Reaping Eye, a relic tied to Haven’s survival. Between you and your goal lie raging rivers, unnatural beasts, hostile factions, and haunted ruins full of memories best left undisturbed. Along the way you’ll face Withered creatures, deadly terrain, and the creeping sense that the forest itself remembers you in ways you’d rather forget. This Daggerheart one-shot captures the core themes of the Witherwild frame: encroaching corruption, personal and environmental horror, and the tension between hope and decay. Expect combat against twisted foes, moral choices under duress, and opportunities for narrative problem-solving. Whether you slip through river currents swarming with mutated beasts, talk your way past desperate refugees outside Haven’s walls, or fight through the Assassins’ Cathedral in search of hidden passageways, every choice can shape the outcome. I run cinematic, collaborative games that balance tension, exploration, and emotional payoff. In this one-shot we’ll use Daggerheart’s corruption mechanics to bring the forest’s menace to life and spotlight character agency in crises. If you enjoy twisted wild landscapes, haunting ruins, and dark fantasy with moments of triumph against all odds, this adventure is for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players should create a Tier-1 character before the session, but there will also be some time set aside at the beginning of the session for me to help and answer any question.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have the following: - a Roll20 account - access to a webcam/mic - a discord account (for playing the game)

What Joe (Phoenix) brings to the table

I bring the Daggerheart core rule book. A Discord server where sessions will be taking place. and a fun and engaging story! I mainly focus on roleplay and story telling with a bit of puzzles and some combat to keep things spicy. I am a very rules light kind of GM I use the rules more like guidelines and just want people to come together and have a good time playing some MotW!

Safety

How Joe (Phoenix) creates a safe table

Players will find a link to my lines and veils document in the discord, we will have a brief session 0 before the game starts to go over any questions or concerns players may have about the game and we will also go over character builds. I use the X, N, & O's during the game and payers who have their video on can choose to either make an X, N, or O with their arms or just type in the chat.
