About the adventure
This scenario will be mainly focused on exploration and simple quest solving, it's inspired by the first level of the Warcraft III human campaign! A simple mini-adventure about heroes going to the frontier to help a tiny, almost forgotten village and more importantly, to help their Lord! This type of scenario will lend well to characters similar to the medieval archetype of the Knight, or to Good or Lawful aligned adventurers Lord Deren Rosethorne, the lesser Noble you've sworn service to, has recently been granted stewardship over a stretch of land in the Dessarin Valley. You and your fellow colleagues are sent to investigate the recent strange occurrances in order to get the iron mine operational as soon as possible. The full introduction for the curious: Lord Deren Rosethorne, the lesser Noble you've sworn service to, has recently been granted stewardship over a stretch of land in the Dessarin Valley, not far from the edge of the Kryptgarden Forest. This zone is no stranger to trouble, be it from hostile creatures or the sprawling menace of the Uthgardt Barbarians. Despite this, the village of Grey Hollow, continued to endure, mostly susbsisting through logging and woodcutiing, but recently, a small but promising iron mine was found. It is the foundation upon which Lord Rosethorne’s claim must stand. If it prospers, the land may yet prove worth holding Thanks to the former campaigns of the Black Knight Ser Kaelith Varn, the Yoke of Uthgardt, the barbarian activity in the zone has mostly ceased in the last months, but once again, concerning reports have surfaced, missing people, feral animals, armed men in the horizon. Lord Rosethorne cannot commit a huge expenditure without confirming the problems, and even worse, military forces could end up taunting the Uthgardt Tribes to act once again. That's why you are the ones being sent, trusted agents that will veil for Lord Deren's possessions. His orders are simple, assesst the situation, and restore order if you can.

About me
I am an experienced DM who's been mastering DnD 5e for over 7 years. I made a cyberpunk conversion manual for DnD 5e as well. I've been exclusively a PnP IRL DM and I'm looking to transition to online DMing. My campaigns tend to be a 70/30 split between roleplaying and combat, usually I prefer rather light-hearted campaigns, with a relaxed atmosphere to encourage fun interactions and roleplaying I tend to focus on music and acting, and I like making complex storylines and combat arenas with lots of things going on in the background for the players to have lots of interactions. Looking forward to DMing for you!

Creating your character
Players are required to create a level 3 character either in a standard character sheet (PDF format) or in DnD Beyond, and (preferably) send it over at least 2 hours before the session so I can go over it. When creating the character, please follow the PHB 2024 rules or message me if you need help or feel lost. Character stats can be done either with: -Standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) -Point buy (27 points) -Dice roll (4d6 are rolled, sum up the 3 highest results and drop the lowest, repeat for every stat) On top of their standard gear from both their backstory and starting class inventory, characters will start with an additional 75g This campaign assumes all characters are trusted agents in servitude to Lord Deren Rosethorne. Your character doesn’t need to be loyal, noble, or even particularly fond of him, but they must have a reason to take his orders seriously and see the mission through, behaving properly as an envoy of their lord in these lands. Examples include: -A sworn retainer or soldier in his service -A mercenary or adventurer under contract -A local with ties to his lands or interests -Someone seeking favor, payment, or advancement -Characters of a Lawful or Good alignment This is a cooperative, mission-driven scenario. Characters who would ignore the task, undermine the group, or act without regard for consequences (e.g. indiscriminate violence) won’t be a good fit for this adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All that is required beforehand is a Discord account and to message me at least 2 hours before the session (Discord: ranzerlin) so I can prepare their characters in Foundry VTT
What Ran Zerlin brings to the table
This is a scenario I made inspired by the first mission of the human campaign in Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos (The Defense of Strahnbrad) I wanted a single map with many different places to visit! as a DM I love being spontaneous and doing improv, as well as heavily relying on voices and accents and in music to set the scene. I tried to go as hard as I can in these aspects while keeping the scenario relatively simple and short! I also wanted to try being constrictive in this specific scenario, that's why it's mostly made for characters of either a Good or Lawful alignment, I do believe that these type of constraints can push people to be creative about their own characters!
Homebrew rules
-using consumables costs a bonus action -there's no flanking or encumbrance -death saving throw failures are kept until the next long rest -spell scrolls can be used by any class capable of casting spells

How Ran Zerlin creates a safe table
Players can at any point DM me if they feel the need to adjust anything from the scenario. I'm very good at improv so it won't alter or hinder the experience in any way.
