About the adventure
Sometimes, you don't need an epic story to have fun - just a few friends with swords, spells, and a treasure to find! This is a beginner-friendly game using the Old-School Essentials (OSE) system, planned to start with a straight-forward dungeon crawl and other adventures from there based on player interest.

About me
Mostly GMing for the last 30 years, I've had more ideas than I could ever get to the table. Hopefully, this will be a chance to get a few of them out of my head! I tend towards story-focused games that incorporate player input and plot threads, ranging from comedic tones to horrific ones. A student of myth, history, and true crime, I try to layer in some of the complexities that show up more in reality than in most published games - the forces of good and evil trend more towards the gray spaces in between, even the worst villains may have the best of motivations, and people are shaped by their pasts as much as their place in the story. I find it's a mindset that helps give a bit more depth to the world, and makes things feel a little more epic when done right.

Creating your character
Characters will be created using resources available3 in the game space at Session 0. The adventure should be Level 1-3, and may continue past there if players want to stick out a longer campaign after trying the game iniitially.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will be expected to join a central Discord server (link to be provided) so that they can take part in voice chat. A free account on the Forge will be needed to access the VTT
What Jason Leisemann brings to the table
I will provide the play space, music, scenery, adventures, and rules modules for use in the Foundry VTT space. Old -School Essentials is one of the flagship OSR systems, so it tends to be heavy on combat and exploration - the adventures planned are both focused on exploring the underground caverns beneath an ancient tree, so detailed role-playing and intrigue will probably be a lower priority than kicking in doors, disarming traps, and finding treasure to enable deeper trips into the caverns while seeking out the source of the quake that created the openings in the first place.
