About the adventure

Are you new to Dungeons and Dragons/D&d? Are you new to tabletop games? Well don't worry, this game is designed with new players in mind. The Candlekeep mysteries book is full of mystery and wonder as your characters will search high and low for the answers to their questions. What is Candlekeep? It's a giant library full of books and tomes from all over the sword coast (the D&d world). What can you find there? Loads of interesting people and magic leading to precarious situations that only adventurers can solve. Come learn D&D with me! My session zeroes are free (I'll explain those later), and I'm always happy to work with new players.

About me

Hello, I'm Madeline. I'm your resident geek that loves all things Tabletop. I love Board games and Tabletop Role Playing Games. I have kind of a chipper kind of personality, but I can also be a little Quiet sometimes. But don't worry. I'm all about talking when I DM. I love to show and not just tell what's going on in the environment around my player's characters. I do this by describing more than just the basics. Instead of saying "You walk into a Tavern", I'd say, "As you walk into the broken hull of the ship known as the Rusty Spoon, The smell of pipe Tobacco and a hearty stew hit your nostrils. You hear the crowded sounds of patrons ordering drinks, playing cards, and having arm wrestling contests. As Waitresses dart about the place, you make your way to the bar at the back. A lone bar keep with a pipe in his mouth and a wink in his eye welcomes you, 'How's it going Stranger? What can I get for you?' " I enjoy helping them feel scared and excited when their characters feel that way. Anyway, that's all for now. I hope to see you in a game soon. Bye!

Character creation

Creating your character

Since I'm assuming the players will be new to D&d we will be making their characters together, so I can walk them through it during session zero. For those of you that do not know, Session Zero is basically when the dungeon master and all the players get together to prep for the game. We will talk about the setting, characters, and expectations for this game. Please come to session zero with prep in mind.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please be sure that you have a discord account, a working mic and headphones, and familiarize yourself with Foundry. I'll walk you through how to use it, but it would be helpful if you were to look up a tutorial on youtube.

What Madeline Wonder brings to the table

I'm bringing Foundry with all of it's features including, music, maps, and images. I'll also be bringing, a compelling story to connect all of the sessions together in the candlekeep mysteries book.

Homebrew rules

We will discuss homebrew rules in session zero. It's easier to explain homebrew rules after the player understands the original rules.

Safety

How Madeline Wonder creates a safe table

I plan to keep my players safe by setting expectations ahead of time. I want to have everyone's boundaries understood during session zero, so I can pivot where needed. I also plan on talking to my players about bleed and how it can affect them. My open door policy will also always be in place, so people can message me with no fear of being outed to the other players as being uncomfortable.
