About the adventure
Beneath a pale and watchful moon lies a world of crooked timber villages, whispering birch forests, and old gods who never truly left. Crooked Moon is a folk horror fantasy campaign steeped in harvest rites, witch-marked stones, hollow-eyed scarecrows, and the uneasy feeling that the woods are listening. The aesthetic leans toward grim fairytale—lanternlight in the mist, antlered silhouettes on distant hills, church bells tolling over fields of black wheat. This is a land of omens and bargains, where names have power and the moon always takes its due. The setting centers on isolated communities clinging to ritual and superstition to survive long winters and longer nights. Ancient pacts fray. Saints bleed from their statues. Something moves in the treeline, and it knows you. The horror here is intimate and atmospheric rather than constant gore—slow-burn dread, moral temptation, and the cost of power. Your characters may not know they’re in a “horror story,” but they will feel the weight of tradition, fear, and faith pressing in around them. This game is for players who enjoy character-driven storytelling, creeping tension, and folklore-inspired mysteries. Expect difficult choices, strange miracles, and moments of bleak beauty. I like to run games that balance roleplay and exploration with sharp, meaningful bursts of danger—where investigation matters, preparation counts, and victory often comes at a price. If you love dark fairytales, rural superstition, and the idea that the moon might be watching back, you’ll feel right at home under the Crooked Moon.

About me
With nearly 4k hours logged into Roll20 and a number of adventures under my belt, I am an experienced DM who enjoys designing engaging sessions and building a joint story. I got introduced to D&D via liveplay podcasts and enjoying other ttrpg's with friends. As friends began moving away from our city we began adding online boardgames to our rotation and eventually I was introduced to 5e through joining several games. Eventually I took the plunge and began DM'ing for groups or friends then eventually groups of strangers met on LFG forums.

Homebrew rules
- Flavor is free - Pointbuy or Standard Array for stat generation - Components for spells are only significant if they have a gold cost attached (e.g., Revivify). - Roll OR take avg HP on levelup. You may reroll 1's. - Healing potions are a bonus action to drink and an action to administer to someone else. If you use your action to drink a potion, roll for healing with advantage. - Flanking grants a flat +2 to melee attack rolls - Some homebrew might be ok. Just DM it to me for review. - Unearthed Arcana (including playtest material) and any homebrew needs to be approved before use. - setting specific feats, backgrounds, etc should be approved before use. - Optional class features from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything are all valid **for 2014 PHB classes**. - DM/heroic Inspiration is something I hand out for good roleplay, making me laugh ingame, and generally being a good team player. BEFORE you make a roll, announce that you will be using your DM inspiration to roll with advantage on an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. - Expanded spell lists for Warlocks and Sorcerors can be added to known spells. - use either 2014 or 2024 PHB for character creation _Modified Mental Ability Score Bonus Proficencies_: ===== **Intelligence** For every +2 you possess for your Modifier, you gain an additional language and tool proficiency of your choosing. Ex: A character with 20 Intelligence, with a +5 Modifier, will be able to gain proficiency in 2 Languages and 2 Tools. **Wisdom** For every +2 you possess for your Modifier, you gain an additional tool Proficiency. You also restore additional hitpoints, equal to your Wisdom Modifier, at the end of a short-rest Ex: A character with 17 Wisdom, with a +3 Modifier, will be able to gain proficiency in 1 Tools and restore an additional 3 hitpoints at the end of a short rest. **Charisma** For every +2 you possess for your Modifier, you gain an additional language proficiency of your choosing. Additionally, you gain additional starting gold. This amount is equal to your class equipment starting gold (if you can't find, let me know and I'll tell you), for each +2 to your Charisma Modifier. Ex: A Bard with 20 Charisma, with a +5 Modifier, gains proficiency in 2 Languages and 180 GP. **Banned at the table:** - "Silvery Barbs" spell - No spells with "conjure" in the name. Conjure Barrage is the except - Shadar-Kai - Twilight & Peace Clerics - Evil aligned characters
