About the adventure
Welcome to Scandia, where the fjords run neon and the old gods never died—they just got corporate sponsorship. Two centuries after the Collapse, the Scandinavian Peninsula has become a patchwork of competing powers: the cybernetic Aesir of Valtec ruling from their towers in Neubirk, the Jotun giants of Jotun Industries wrestling resources from the frozen north, and the Freehold Trade Union—a loose alliance of Fae, Duergar, Gitz, and Infernal refugees who found solidarity in the margins. Between them lie the scattered human settlements of Gothland, the demon-haunted gateway of Hellink, and the walled sanctuary of Zion, where order is written in fire and enforced by faith. Some claim it was Ragnarök, some say it was just the beginning - You are a motley crew of strangers bound together by circumstance, hunted by powers you barely understand, and forced to navigate a world where magic and machine intertwine like roots through concrete. In Scandia, survival means choosing sides, or forging your own. The cold never forgives. The corporations never forget. And the legends? They're just waiting for someone desperate enough; That someone could be you ...

About me
Hi, I’m Patrik Olterman. When it comes to TTRPGs I am most definately a Grognard. I started my TTRPG journey back in 1984 with the very first edition of Drakar & Demoner (today known as DragonBane), and ever since then - I can't believe it's been over 40 years - I’ve been firmly seated behind the GM screen—always the storyteller, never the player. I have run more campaigns than I can count over the years in more systems than I care to remember. I am comfortable with most rules systems and campaign settings. I homebrew a lot of rules and will always make sure the group understands what rules have been modified/altered. It is more important to find a narrative-rules balance that foster a good group dynamic and entertaining experiences than to be tied down to a specific rule set. Therefore I favor narrative over rules, and I run relaxed campaigns and one-shots where the focus is on story, laughter, and having a good time. My style leans into mirth and mayhem, because at the end of the day, having fun together will always matter more than following every rule to the letter. While I am comfortable exploring most topics in game I do not tolerate any expressed OOC racism, sexism or bigotry around my table. And it is only welcome IC if it is a topic that the players have agreed to explore at a session zero.

Creating your character
The Characters are created with the standard Otherscape Ruleset - Which in reality means there are no limitations for how creative you can get. I have a simple Trope - themekit character generator available online for quick character generation (5 minutes max) or you can get creative and just fashion your own. Here are some tips for characters to fit best into the world. 1) Use Norse mythology to come up with Mythos powers 2) You can absolutely play Fae (elves), Duergar (dwarves), Gitz (goblins) or any other fantasy race you can think of - It does not matter much in character creation (just know that races other than human are, for the most part viewed witth suspicion) 3) I will host a free (not mandatory) session zero to help with character creation if anyone needs it.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need to have a character made and added to GMF (My own character creation platform) before the first game session. The game will be played on my Discord server (or Foundry VTT if the misthud plugin gets updated) All you need is a discord account. (If we play on VTT all you need is a modern browser) You need to have a functional microphone (and I prefer that everyone has their cameras on during play but it is not required)
What Patrik brings to the table
A truly unique setting, a compelling - epic story arc. Mirth and Mayhem! Rule of Cool will always outweigh Rules. We are here to have fun!
Homebrew rules
All the content is strictly homebrew while set within the (admittedly loose) rules context of Metro Otherscape. Most of the gameplay will be within one of the Scandia Megacities, with some trips into the Post Apocalyptic waste that lies between them.

How Patrik creates a safe table
The (optional) session zero will mostly be focussed on character creation and getting to know the setting but will also cover lines and veiles in a ddition each player will have the oportunity to fill out a lines and veils form prior to session zero. Depending on platform (Foundry VTT has digital X, O's) Regardless players will be encouraged to share what works (or doesn't work for them during gameplay and in the post-session debrief) In the content warnings I have added racism, I want to point out that this is racism against non-humans, I have a zero tolerance policy against any real world racism and bigotry. Similarly I have a content warning for real world religion, this is because (at least in scandinavia) there are people who worship the Norse gods and teh in game faction Protectorate of Zion is based on the Catholic Church (at it's medival worst). These are fictional portrayals and not meant to be understood as true representations of either faith.
