About the adventure
Step into a classic fantasy adventure designed for players and Dungeon Masters who are new to Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Starting at level 3, this story introduces the game through a balanced mix of exploration, roleplay, and combat while teaching the fundamentals in a clear, hands-on way. Your journey begins in a quiet frontier town where the blacksmith’s daughter has vanished, drawing the party into a growing mystery that leads through stormy forests, tense encounters with wary townsfolk, and eventually into the depths of a dragon’s lair. The tone focuses on classic heroic fantasy, with brave adventurers uncovering secrets and confronting a rising threat. The pacing allows players to learn rules naturally while staying immersed in an engaging story. Designed for a group of four, this adventure emphasizes collaboration, creative problem solving, and learning through play, making it an ideal starting point for both new players and first-time Dungeon Masters.

About me
Hello! I’m AJ, a Dungeon Master with experience dating back to 2018, including nearly four years of running games on stream. My approach to play emphasizes the three pillars in this order: social interaction, exploration, and combat. I focus on immersive storytelling through careful attention to detail, including vivid sensory descriptions, believable NPC behavior, and environments designed to feel natural and internally consistent. I usually run games in my own custom setting, but I am equally comfortable using official settings when preferred. While combat is third in my priorities, I still make it engaging, dynamic, and challenging. My goal is to create meaningful tension without becoming unfair or overly punishing. Players can expect encounters that reward smart decisions and teamwork rather than simple endurance. I am also very comfortable working with new players. I have introduced many people to the game over the years and enjoy helping them learn the rules, build confidence, and develop good habits for future campaigns. NOTE: I am currently only available for one-shots/mini series or monthly sessions for campaigns. Unless, theyre play by post!

How AJ creates a safe table
As with any group of new players, you’ll be asked to complete a brief survey about your comfort levels with certain topics. This helps me adjust the game ahead of time to ensure a respectful, safe, and enjoyable table for everyone. We’ll also take a 10-minute break midway through the session for water, snacks, and to check in if needed. If anything during the game makes you uncomfortable, you can privately message me “Yellow” to signal that things should ease up, or “Red” for an immediate stop. This applies to in-game content and player behavior alike, I’m committed to maintaining a positive experience for the whole group.
