About the adventure
You and your companions have just arrived to the small hamlet of Broadhurst when suddenly the Blacksmith bursts through the doors of the Feather Bed Inn distraught over the capture of her daughter! Dragged off into the ancient tomb in the woods, wreathed in ghost stories. She's in dire need of a daring band of adventurers to delve into the tomb and rescue her daughter, before it's too late! Step into the world of Orden and learn how to play the exciting new TTRPG by MCDM: Draw Steel! In this learn-by-playing adventure you'll face deadly foes, save a town and its people from a morbid fate, and explore the region of Dalrath! Threats lurk around every corner... CONTENT WARNINGS: - Body Horror - Spiders - Starvation - Alcohol - Ghosts & Spirits - Kidnapping - Young Adults in Peril - Tight Spaces - Claustrophobia - Undead - Death There will be a safety and consent sheet distributed to each player allowing you to denote lines and veils on content you would rather avoid. However, the above are present in the default experience of the Adventure. I will happily adjust these elements to accommodate the group and avoid triggering topics. ~⚔️~ This is an open and inclusive table, with a focus on teamwork and cooperation. I am Panromantic and this table will be welcoming toward the LGBTQ+ community! I tolerate absolutely ZERO bigotry, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, racism, or hatred of any kind directed at a group of people. This is non-negotiable. If anyone has an issue at the table or ever feels uncomfortable, please talk to me about it so I can deal with it directly. ~⚔️~ During the FREE Session Zero I will guide you through character creation, cover expectations and safety, and explain the basics of the game and the Codex (the VTT we will be using, more on that in a moment) for new players. All with practical demonstrations! For those that are new I promise to teach you the game at your own pace, with zero condescension. There will be no dumb or bad questions. This will be a very friendly table. ~⚔️~ THE CODEX! The Codex is Draw Steel's purpose-built VTT for running and playing the game. It is purchasable on Steam for $20 USD per person. Because this is an additional cost, you WILL NOT BE CHARGED for the first session of the game! Your first session's cost will be purchasing Draw Steel on Steam. I personally don't feel right asking my players to spend money on these sessions AND on a VTT simultaneously, and this seems like the best way to make both work. ~⚔️~ Requirements: - Discord - Steam - Draw Steel on Steam - Decent Microphone - Decent Internet - Willingness and Excitement to Learn and Play - That's it! Hi there! I'm a friendly forever GM and official Kobold enthusiast! At the moment, I'm primarily running Pathfinder 2e and Draw Steel, and would love to teach you both games! Most of my past experience was in D&D 5e, with additional experience running Dread, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire the Masquerade, and Avatar Legends. With a hunger to always learn new systems! Creating your character
We will discuss characters prior to Session Zero, and begin crafting them in concept. We will then finalize and implement them into the Codex at the start of the Session Zero itself. There is also a list of premade characters available covering every class in the Heroes book that can be used as-is or customized. There are no custom rules that we will be using in this adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need to have a Discord account and join my personal server, a microphone to communicate, and a Steam account to purchase and play via the Virtual Tabletop. You can find the Virtual Tabletop by searching for Draw Steel on Steam. As a reminder, because the VTT costs $20 USD, you WILL NOT BE CHARGED for your first session of this game! As the normal cost of the session would be equivalent to the cost of the VTT on Steam. Purchasing this game via Steam is a necessity, but I'm hoping that the removal of the session cost will be an equivalent exchange.
What Justin (Geeky Game Guru) brings to the table
I will be hosting a private Discord server that hosts a welcoming environment and a kind community. There will be immersive music playing at all times, with a controllable volume on the player's side. Rich art will be provided by the adventure itself, with supplemental assets provided when needed. I'm not great with voices and accents, but I will try to make each NPC and character sound distinct from each other as much as possible. Draw Steel's rules are robust and excellently written and implemented, so there won't need to be much determination or alteration. But I always lean toward the Rule of Cool, and will implement it when possible.
